Got my on-line delivery today. Overall, a very positive test from Pop P.
However, did you notice the typos in the highest 3 ISO's in the noise rating?

Both the LX & ME Super are great cameras. However, the ME Super doesn't stand up as well to heavy service. I wore out the wind mechanism on mine after a couple of years. My LX has never needed any service. Also the power wider for the ME Super was not consistent. Both my wife and I had this problem and never knew if ours would work right. It has no power rewind, but the LX does. The power wider on the LX always performs flawlessly.
The LX is a system camera with a lot of flexibility with various finders, screens and backs. Its TTL flash performance is excellent. The only drawback with the LX is the sticky mirror, which seems to improve with regular use.
As mentioned, the metering system on the LX has a far greater range and seems to deliver more consistent slide film results than the ME Super.
To summarize, the ME Super is a wonderful little camera, but not made to last or resist the elements like the LX.

Enjoyed watching your work with the models. The 43 Ltd is a great lens, but maybe not the best for this kind of work as you have to get so close that objects nearer the camera are exaggerated like her hands in the first photo. A 70mm or so would let you move back to a more flattering perspective.

My approach to weddings is heavy on the documentary side. Other than the ceremony and formal poses, I find myself shooting a lot in the sub-20 mm range (with an APSC camera). This gives an "in-the-action" atmosphere to the photos, whether they are in the bride's room, candids before and after the ceremony, who's at which table or above and in the middle of the dance floor. Ultra wide and fisheyes with ceiling-bounced flash work great for the dance action.

I'm new here, so maybe you guys have covered this before.
Over the past 20 years, I've had 2 good brand (Tiffen & Hoya) circular polarizers go bad to where they softened focus, even with careful manual focus. The Hoya went bad over only a day or so (not damaged in any way), and the Tiffen gradually deteriorated over a couple of years.
These aren't cheap in 67mm. Any info on how this happens?

Now you've gone and done it! Just when I thought 33 years away from there had cured me, you hit me with RMNP in the fall - my favorite time. I lived in Estes Park and would bicycle to some of these sites. Couldn't afford much photography then, but it was great to be there anyhow. Good shots, but maybe a little too heavy in the HDR correction to look natural.

Sorry for a delayed response: on assignment. Thank you all for your input. A plain background would have to be imported to where these bead strings were being sold, so the photo strays from the strictly abstract because the surroundings intrude. TeamPentax's comment about staring at it for 20 seconds echoes why I like it so much.

Intriguing shot of the 4 boats. You have a good eye for what will create interest.
Could be improved by straightening the horizon and cropping everything to the left of the yellow boat on the left. Ideally it would benefit from getting rid of all the boats other than the 4 in front, but that's more photoshop than I'm capable of.

Very cute "mommie's" picture that argues against analysis, but here goes . . .
Using the camera's built-in flash reduces the appearance of depth. If you would use an external flash, bounced off a white ceiling, with a white card to reflect some of the flash into the baby's eyes, it would add depth and a smoother, multi-directional light. It would also remove the harsh shadow of the knit cap.

I had a similar problem when my K10D clicked over from 9999 to 0001 in the middle of a wedding I was shooting. I was unaware of a problem at the time, but reviewing the shoot on my computer, I realized the entire processional was missing plus a few shots of the exchange of vows.
As the blood drained from my face, I started looking frantically for the recovery software that had come with my Lexar SD card. :eek: Panic is a powerful if not dependably rational motivator. As it turned out, all of the missing 28 photos were on the card, but the K10D simply hadn't included their file names in the file table. I had not formatted the card after the shoot and the files were successfully recovered.
The next time the K10D clicked over to 0001, it was also during a wedding. I followed the file numbering and reviewed the shots on the display. Everything went OK this time.

Welcome - I joined yesterday. I'm like you in that I was drifting from Pentax until I got the goods on the K-5. Pentax is finally getting worthy of its historic reputation with this one.

As my user name implies, I've been in photography since 1960. All of my SLR's have been Pentax from a gently used 1959 Highland Pentax H2 to my current K10D. A K5 is next on my impossible dream list.
I grew up in Denver where I lived near and visited the importer's offices. First it was Highland, then Honeywell and finally Pentax USA.
The Pentax addiction is hard to kick: first a body and lens, then more lenses, then a newer body, then better lenses & flashes, and so you're hooked.
I do semi-pro wedding and event photography as well as being the church photographer where I attend. We have a photowalk group at my church providing good opportunities for personal work and for helping other members of the group.
