I saw somebody else here posting with a K5 + a medium format lens, so I thought I'd give it a shot with my combo.:hmm:

I deliberately gave a dark look to this picture, thereby mimicing the often harsh conditions under which workers had to labour in wheat processing plants like this one, which is not in use anymore - the plant that is. The processing is done with HDR software. Industrial heritage, Leiden, the Netherlands by 2011*Alwin, on Flickr
This picture is taken from the same position as the above, but has the 10 stop filter attached to the lens. Industrial heritage, Leiden, the Netherlands by 2011*Alwin, on Flickr
Here again taken from the same position, taken at 20 mm. Industrial heritage by 2011*Alwin, on Flickr

This one is made with a B + W 10 stop filter. I like the surrealistic effect because of the mirror-like water and moving clouds quite a bit. Also the colours seem to be affected in a pleasing way, without really affecting the clarity of the picture. What you see btw the spui of Katwijk, that is the point where the water from the river flows into the sea. Katwijk spui by 2011*Alwin, on Flickr

I thought I'd contribute again after such a long time. This one is from beautiful Isle of Skye, Scotland. The processing is HDR and therefore in this case to my eyes rather artificial, but the other unprocessed one - not shown here - is rather dark-looking on the monintor I'm currently working on. Trial and error. Once I made a picture which was pretty well exposed with ISO 400 and about 70 seconds exposure time. I kept that as a guideline. It also depends on whether there is direct sunlight on the object shot. Such an object radiates more infrared light. Basically the same as for objects under normal light, but infrared photography seems more prone to overblown highlights.

An infrared picture of a castle I took last week. Shadows of myself and of a gate along the lawn were cloned away.

Thank you for your reply.
The third picture was done by using layers and a mask of the foreground plant in photoshop. First I made a copy of the foreground layer. In the second (background) layer a "swirl" (or whatever the name was) filter was used . Then I used a gradient to gradually change the foreground layer into the background layer. But the masked foreground plant was excluded from this process. After that I made the second layer black & white and used a gradient again for a smooth transition between foreground and background layer. So no flash was used! I hope this explanation makes sense to you.

All three pictures were taken with the DA 35 macro limited. The first one is a pseudo-HDR (HDR based on one picture), the second is ... see for yourself. For the third: is the post-processing a little overdone or is it just the way you like it?
