Upgrade from k10d

Thx both.

The k20d it is then... 2 control dials and focus indicator in viewfinder are important pros for the k20.
And JohnX denied his k20d having any focusing problems so this case is closed.

Best,

Upgrade from k10d

All,

I'm not really a beginner. I shoot pentax for 5years already. I did this with my dear K10d which is an incredible camera. However he's getting focusing issues now which I can't solve anymore (I could before by diving into the camera's system menu). So I'm looking for an upgrade. I'm happy with the image quality of the K10d but if I could gain a bit on Iso performance that would be welcome.

I don't have the cash for new stuff like the K-5 or K-30. So i'm surfing on the second hand market. Which Pentax should I look for?

K20d? K-x? ...

I like the build quality of the k20d but I read about the somewhat bad autofocus. The k-x is a plastic camera but has better focus abilities and iso performance, but is it tough in bad weather also?

Thanks for your advice to make my choice easier ;)

Best,

Brecht

Choice of lense

Hi,

I'm looking for a new lense, which will my primary lense, but I have a lot of conditions:ugh::
  • I have no huge budget

  • I want it to be versatile (landscape to portrait)

  • It has to be lightweight, will spend a lot of time in my backpack so it has to be sturdy also. Probably the only lense on a biking trip from Prague to Ghent.

  • Prime > zoom (I like primes more than zooms cause it's more challenging in a way and the IQ is mostly better, I know this makes my versatility condition difficult)

Tzadaam :)

I took a look at these already
Sigma 17-70
Pentax 35mm 2,4 and 2,8
Pentax 40mm
Pentax 21mm
Pentax 50mm 1,4

I can't decide! I need experienced people to help me out a bit. If you were looking for a lense with the conditions above which one would you pick (from the above or others).

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards

Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX AF DG Macro

Asking Price
280 euro

Item Location
Belgium

Item Description
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX AF DG Macro for Pentax Cameras

This is a nice allround lense with macro capabilities.
I bought this lense in November 2010, but I didn't use it very often. There are NO traces of use since I take very good care of all my lenses. The lense will be sold in the original package.

Why do I sell?

I want to change my zoom lenses for prime. Currently looking for wide angle lenses. Since I can't afford a whole bunch of lenses I have to sell some to buy others.

Kind regards,

Brecht

Item Description
This is a brand new pentax k-5!

How?
I got a new pentax k-5 as replacement for my other one which was stained with the string of pearls. I discovered that when i wanted to sell it.
Now I received the replacement, brand new, and I still want to sell the camera (they wouldn't give me a refund instead)

This camera has never been used! The body is still packed in plastic.

Why?

This beauty was an impulse buy:o... Now i moved in with my girlfriend and other costs are more important. So here it is.

I tried to beat every price i found in online stores.

For the price you get a new body, the kitlense and all the other accesoires which are in the box of course.

Hi,

I had some doubts on the focusing of my new lense: the sigma 24-70mm so i took a test. And messed with the AF adaptation in the k-5 to try and get it right...

The pictures below are all taken on 70mm, f2.8 (ISO 100 - 1/30s) on tripod. THese are all cropped around the word which i focused on (- RNMENTAL). I see strong front focus, which isn't solved with AF adaptation.
1: normal
2: AF adaptation +10
3: AF adaptation - 10

Do i have a bad copy? or is this a bad focus test

Kind regards,
Graisin

Tokina SL-17 17mm f/3.5 or Sigma 15mm fisheye

Hi,

I'm looking for a prime wide angle...
I've the opportunity to buy a tokina 17mm f/3.5 manual focus or
I could buy the sigma 15mm which is AF (wider but fish eye)

Now was I wondering which one you guys would buy...

I do not want heavy fisheye effects but I saw some pics taken with sigma which were not very fishy-like :) - then i started doubting, the sigma is AF also...

Max budget is like 350 euro (saw both for that amount of money) ...

So which one would you suggest or are there viable alternatives for that amount of money?

Kind regards.

Hi,

I was on the brink of buying a second hand lense from someone in the US.
But i was wondering the following:
Which taxes and import duties do i have to pay if i want to import a lense in Belgium.
Does anyone have experience with this?

Battery grip K-7 to K-5

Hi,

I know the battery grip of the K-7 should be applicable with the K-5 so i went looking for sales...
I stumbled upon this:
BATTERY GRIP PENTAX K-7 K7 SLR D-BG4+2 X D-LI90 DLI90 - eBay, For Pentax, Digital Camera Batteries, Photography. (Eindtijd 16-dec-10 08:36:44 CET)

Well...that's not a lot of money so i was wondering if anyone has experience with this seller or with buying battery grips from ebay. It seems to me it's the perfect accessoire to mess with in therms of being a third party grip instead of a pentax...

Thanks for the advice.

Kind regards

Hi,

When i've taken a picture i always tend to zoom in on the live view to make sure it's sharp. I was wondering though how far do i have to zoom in (on live view) to see what the picture would look like at 100%?

I've the k-5 which is 16mp.

Thx!

Hi,

I got the first K-5 which was avaible in Ghent, Belgium!
It's a very nice machine. Already took it for a project. It has got great handling, as good as my k10d which i was used too.
The pictures look fine. Though i got to watch them at 100%. Noise rate is acceptable at 800 to 3200 especially compared to my K10d:) if I zoom in on the camera itself.

Up until now, glad with the purchase. Need some further testing though.
