Thanks! Like your third shot too.
Marks on negatives - I was having problems too, but now I use Ilfosol in the final wash (Ilford's equivalent of photo flo.) Then snap the negative, and wet my hands thoroughly before using my fingers to squeegee off remaining water. Not too many problems now, but I would like to get my hands on some distilled water to be sure.

Thanks for the advice, I am sending it back to the seller to see if he can sort it, if not a refund. I got a quote from Robin which was more than twice the cost of the camera, not saying it's not worth it, just too much for me.

Hi,
Just bought a second Super-A - It's clean but the dials are harder to turn than my other one, they are sticky. Plus the meter does not come on readily -sometimes I need to take a picture to get it operational again... Any ideas for fixes?
Thanks!

A very detailed and helpful reply from Ilford:
I probably did not give it enough time to defrost. Almost certainly in fact.

It looks streaky on the whole negative, not just the exposed parts. And textured. It almost looks like the plastic or whatever has aged or degraded. It doesn't look like there is still silver on there, though it's hard to be sure. It's like some parts are more opaque than others.
Looking at some 35mm HP5 which I used with the same batch of fixer and they look fine.

Actually I like it too here. It adds something, as does the cloud. I am intrigued to know what people think might have cause it. I've emailed Ilford to see if they can tell me.
Expired fixer perhaps?

OK, any other ideas then?

Thanks! Perhaps I sould go with a 2x3 crop to get rid of more sky when I print it. Another example here. The film expired in 2005. I don't think I will be bothering again with expired film. I haven't tried enlarging and printing with it yet, but I can't imagine it will improve. I used some from 1999 once which was worse. Treeline by Jeztastic, on Flickr

Taken with the Yashica 24 6x6, but cropped. Expired FP4+, which does interesting things to skies, I am discovering. Developed in Perceptol, which I am impressed with.

Yes, discovered that as well. I can't cope with 500 maximum shutter speed either.

Thanks. Pleased with the picture, but I put new seals in the camera but am still getting light leaks somehow. :-(

So I found out the hard way you shouldn't clean a focusing screen with solvents. Does anyone know if they are easy to replace? And are the compatible across the similar sized cameras - the M range, ME, MX etc?
Thanks all...

Pentax Super-A with SMC 50mm f1.7 - either A or M I forget which. I only had FP4+ which I rated at 400 iso to see what would happen. I assumed it would look awful, but I developed it in Microphen and it turned out really quite well.
This was at a hop festival in Faversham in Kent - a big town-wide piss up basically. It all started getting a bit nasty shortly after this, but for an hour or two the whole town was in that lovely happy drunk stage. I think these chaps might be local gypsies, but I'm not sure. Took this on Christmas Day whilst on holiday. I was internally debating whether it was right to completely drop the shadows in the branches - now I see that it was, so I can enter this compo!

Love that pic Dynamo, especially the split toning.
