I see the focus is in different location on most pictures. If they were both set up at the beginning to be equal on exposures and WB and so on the K5 would show a better Pic. Anyone can manipulate a picture on any camera to show a bad picture!!! I own the K5 and get nothing but superb results maybe 1% is off but still I can use them. Happy manipulation folks!

I have a 35 year old Kiron 28-135 f/3.2 that is big and heavy. It way 3 1/2 times what the 18-55 kit lens. But the glass is just outstanding, the IQ is fantastic and I carry it around as my first choice, and my telle is a Kiron 70-210 f/4 both are MF but it seams my K5 loves them. I need to buy some more primes on the wide end. I have the DA 17-70 f/4 coming next week so I will test it out for sure. I have 20 or more vintage MF Pentax lenses. I won't know how to act with AF.

I forgot the manual focus ring, it needs to be 1 inch wide and well dampened with a through of 150 degs. so you can really use it.

The New Kit Lens for the K5 and Newer;
Pentax is losing ground in the DSLR world; build a camera system around two new lenses. 14mm-80mm f/2.2 WR all metal and rubber no plastic, and a 80mm-250mm f/3.2 WR. APS-c only no FF. Make it fit the ASP-c sensor.
The 14-80 f/2.2 would be the new KIT lens I know it is going to raise the cost of the kit, but people would be buying them so fast that the factory will have to go on line 24/7 and hire more employees for QC.
That is my next point the QC must be there 100% of the time and get rid of all the SDM problems and other things before they are released to the public. That will make people want to invest in the K5 and newer cameras as long as they can trust Pentax / Ricoh.
They have to put the time and money into building a top notch lens, if it calls for six ED lenses put them in.
The new lens should not know what the word soft means, only Sharp from edge to edge and corner to corner with 0.0% ghosting and flare throughout the entire range of 14-80mm And no CA control it 99.9%. We need a new formula for coating the lenses the old just isn’t good enough with Digital Cameras.
If Canon and Nikon can do it so can Pentax!. We should not give way to the mirror-less cameras they just don’t get the job done. Go DSLR!
The weather seals need to compliment the K5, as the K5 has so much to offer but the glass is hiding somewhere.
Pentax need to do whatever it takes to put their name at the top of the pile.
Well if you want to add to this lens and camera combo please add to it.:)

I have a 35 year old set 4 screw 12-21-31mm made by Pentax. I have hung a 21/2 lb 70-210 Kiron f4 macro on them and no adverse effect on them. At 210 and all three hooked up about 1/16" to the subject and the DOF is so thin I can only focus on one letter on a silver quarter at 45deg. angle.

I find it funny how these K5 works, when I want to change the ISO I tap on the ISO button and it starts to blink on the screen and then I Scroll with the rear wheel I don't have to hold nothing down.

So, what exactly should I do with this manual-focus 85/1.4 lens in order to get proper focus results?
As I mentioned earlier, I am not so concerned about what would show through the viewfinder as much as what would show as a final image.
Take a lot of pic's and see what they look like, I use alot of my Kiron manual focus lenses on my K5 and never had a problem with the final results.

My forth body the K5 will be here today and CRIS camera of Arizona said that it will be flawless it has taken 5 weeks to get it. I sure miss it!!!
Up date>>> the camera came this afternoon and they sent a K5 body as if you were to buy it of the shelf with the battery and charger and the neck strap and all the cords and a new manual. I think that was real nice of them to go the extra mile in taking good care of the customer with the extras. I checked it out and waallla good one. Now to start buying new lenses!!!

:)Well C.R.I.S. camera store got my K5 on the 21st. of Jan. and it is now on hold for replacement . That is mighty quick work considering the work load they have. (Pat them on the Back) I think they will check it out the new one that is to make sure every thing work as it should. I just sent the body in maybe I should have sent the kit lense into oh well to late now. Bad on my part hard to sit here and waite. I had pearls and no sound and it needs the new firmwear installed. Later Rick

C.R.I.S. camera has my K5 and said they will rush it Thur the system and all I can do is wait and see what happens. I got my first body in November 2010 and the others in Dec.. I just wonder what they do with all of the bad ones and how many are disabled do to one thing or another. I hope buy sending mine in to Pentax and not just trading it in for another one that is bad because the seller will not check the ones the have. Sit a wait is all I can do. Later :-}

Is the Sigma 10-20 the better lense then the 12-24 Pentax, other then the extra 2mm on the wide end? I've been looking at both, mostly for indoor get together's.
My kit lense 18-55 is not wide enough. I don't need stright lines as some of you do, a little barrel won't hurt me. Thank's RC
