Been outta the photo taking game for a while do to work and finding little time to myself, but found a perfect opportunity to shoot some of my willing subject while she was still in bed. I kept the ISO fairly high to get that "grainy" look to the shots and give them that classy look. Really proud of these and hope you all enjoy.

Just a shot of the moon this evening. I just received a mirror lens that I purchased off of a fellow Pentaxian and couldn't wait to try it out. Photo was shot from a tripod with a 2x converter attached.

With the beautiful weather we've had here in West Virginia, I decided to head out to a local game farm and shot some photos of the animals on display. This game farm has animals in it that are native to the state and it's open year round. Hope to get some more when the first decent snow falls. All of the shots were through a chain-link fence and I did my best to focus out the fence, but it still show through a few. These shots are the "cream of the crop"...or at least what I thought were, lol.

Yep, this photo came to us thanks to the pastel feature in the camera. When I first so the shot, it was a very ordinary...just so so shot. Then when I started playing around with the in camera photo editing features, I came across the pastel mode and thought the effect on this one was pretty cool looking.

I've had my new K-x for a little while now, but really haven't got the chance to take any photos with it let along use any of the features. Today was a pretty nice day out and did manage to step outside for a bit to snap a few shots of a happy little robin perched on a branch near my house. Decided to play with the in-camera photo editing and liked this shot a little more than the rest.

awesome info, thanks a ton noblepa. It's actually a Albinar 135mm and after enlarging the photos of the lens, it appeared that the aperture actuating lever was slightly wider than my other lenses, but then again it could be that I'm looking at pictures with tired eyes. It's definitely a manual lens, which is why (other than the price) I purchased it. I want to start learning the finer points of composing shot with my camera.

Ok, so here's my dilemma...I just purchased a lens from ebay (a very cheap and impulse purchase) and completely overlooked the fact that it is a PK-mount lens. I've done a ton of searching and I'm getting mixed information on whether or not this lens is compatable with my K110D. ;) So I'm calling on the powers that be (or more importantly, people that know a ton more than I do, lol) to help me with whether or not the lens will work. If not, is there any trick or mod to make it compatable or did I just buy a pretty book end. Thanks in advance.

Thanks slowpez, I actually turned this into a Valentine's Day gift for my Girlfriend and she loved it, lol.
tessfully, I more than welcome your critique...I can't learn without some criticism.
Here's the original picture, the bigger hearts are also red and the design you might see in them are actually lights that splay out from the center of each heart. I think I may mess with the photo a little more and try some of the tips you suggested.

Being a guy, I'm not a HUGH fan of Valentine's Day, but after my Girlfriend saw this photo (that I more or less just snapped on a whim), see convinced me to play around a little with it. After messing around with it a little, I came to this conclusion and thought I'd share with my fellow Pentaxians. Enjoy!

As far as the K110D goes price wise, I picked mine up last November for a shade under $300 and that was with the original lens kit, an extra 35mm prime lens, (2) 2 gig memory cards, a set of rechargeable AA batteries and a IR remote. I've never shot with any of the newer Pentax models such as the K-X or K-R, but I've shot with a couple Nikons and Canons and the K110D is just as nice, if not nicer, than the others I've shot with.
As far as the noise in the high ISO goes, it's nothing that isn't manageable. What little bit I've noticed at 1600 is easily cleaned up in PP. In a couple weeks, I'm going to shoot some of one of my friend's band in what is sure to be a dark, smoky bar. I'll try to get some of the shots up and that may possibly help you with some more insight for your decision.

Shot some more "pseudo-macro" shots (I say pseudo because they're not all that small.). Haven't got a chance to get outside during prime daylight time to get and decent shots, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of things with this lens. Ira, I shot a heap at f9-f11 and it seems to have help out a ton. My shutter speed is still fairly long, but hopefully getting outside with a bunch of light with allow me to get it under 1/500. These shots are untouched as far as any PP is concerned so I'm pretty happy with them.

Thanks for the tips Ira, I'll have to give those a try too. I didn't even realize that the f-stop was set there until you posted that. I went over most of my photos that noticed that most, if not all, were like this.

Mine appears to be the older version (using the 72mm filter)...the 185D. After reading some of the reviews of this lens, it seems that it tends to be a little softer past 200mm. But from what I've read, getting used to the lens can yield sharper photos, just takes a little experience on when to step done the exposure. Most of the reviews I'm reading talk of it being a fairly nice lens, even for the age of it.

The one that I purchased (not sure what the model is), but has the same specs as the one you have pictured there. I actually like the lens a lot, just need to get used to it. I'm used to the 'ol point and shot cameras, so using a lens and camera that takes knowledge and skill to use is still fairly new to me. At this point, I'm just going to keep shooting photos till I get the "technique" of this particular lens.

Here are a couple of mine from a small street photography shoot my girl and myself went on yesterday. The camera I was using was a ZX-50 that I just purchased of a member on this forum (thanks again dgaies) and a Tamron 28-300mm lens (which I also just purchased) and I couln't be happier with them both.

Since my first post, I've shot a couple more through the window and have noticed that for long range shot, it reaches out there and snags a nice shot. But for fairly close shots of these small song birds, it leaves a lot to be played with in PP. I'm starting to think that a lot of it has to do with the low levels of light that I get on that side of my house has a lot to do with it as well. Thanks for the heads up imtheguy, I'll give the EV adjusting a try tomorrow to help out with the grayness in some of my shots. After only paying $60 shipped to my house for the lens, it was definitely a step up from my 18-55mm kit lens. :)

Actually in the shots of the birds, I was using the lens in manual mode. That would explain why the focus is a little off. I was trying to catch a few of the birds in flight and that definitely wasn't happening with autofocus on.

Ok, so here's the run down...over the holidays, I picked up a Tamron 28-300mm telephoto/maco lens at a VERY good deal. I say VERY good deal, because I bought the lens from an individual that had a bulk of Pentax K-mount lens and had no way of testing them, so he was selling them super cheap. For what I paid for the lens, I figured it was worth a shot just to upgrade form the 18-55mm kit lens that my K110d came with. After recieving the lens, I went over it with a fine tooth comb (well to the best of my limited knowledge, lol) and it apears to be just fine...aside from a few cosmetic scratchs and blemishes. Yesterday, I shot a roll of film through my ZX-50 with it and after having the film developed, noticed that some shots were super clear and sharp and some were well...not. This morning, I fired up the K110d and shot some photos of some birds and a small white-tail deer that has become a fairly good friend (mostly because I have been feeding her cracked corn, lol) and most of the shots I took came out very nice, but once again, some didn't. I'm pretty sure that there isn't an issue with the lens, but rather the person using the lens, lol.
I'm hoping some others on this site has had experience with this lens or can just get me some tips and pointers on shooting with this lens. So far, I'm pretty happy with it, and I guess that's the biggest point, but any help will great be appreciated. I have several books on shooting with a D-SLR, but sadly none help out with shooting macro shots which is what I'm really looking forward to.
I know that aparture and shutter speed is where I'm going to get my "sharpness" from and what I can't get from there, I can easily make up in PP. But like I said, I'm mainly looking for any advice and/or tips.
Here's a few of the shots with the K110d, just to give everyone an idea of what I'm talking about. I played with the contrast a little on these, but nothing major in the way of anything else.
