Portraiture | Pentax 77 1.8 vs Sigma 85 1.4 | Experiences with each?

I have both the Sigma 85mm 1.4 & the 77mm. I use both of them for portraits. If I had to pick between the 2, I would stick with my Sigma. On my K1, I like the IQ better. But, that's me and I mostly use it in my small studio. However, the Sigma has taken great shots outside as well on portraits. Good luck and let us know what you decided.

Yes it was and thank you for looking into it. I have to admit it was a mistake on my part and the CS at B&H was great.

Trying to Redeem my Adobe CC Subscription

I purchased a 2 year Adobe CC Subscription back in May. I already had one that didn't expire until July 31, 2016. On July 26 or the 27th, I used the link in the email from B&H to redeem the subscription. I got the message, "Code is not valid. Please try another code" I tried both numbers and 3 different Web Browsers. None of them worked. I called B&H and they told me they are working on it. I tried calling Adobe and they said it was a B&H problem. Both LR & PS stopped working on July 30 and I've not been able to use it since.

My order number is #1039258613.

Both Adobe & B&H say the codes are still valid, but they can't get them to work.

Is there anything you can do on your side to help get this fixed?

Thanks

They all would be great. I really like the idea of a ring flash, but the prices are from super cheap to way more than I would ever spend.

I love the K3ll. I have a K-1 Full Frame, but I have to say I just love the way the K3ll works and feels in my hand. To me, the K3ll is my everything camera for what I do. The K-1 mostly for studio work. I really haven't used the GPS, Astor-tracer but it's nice to have. I don't miss the pop up flash at all because I have flashes which work great on it. (I use the Cactus wireless system which sits in the hotshoe)

Great News After 72 Days

There was a knock on my door today and when I got there I found a package from FedEx. ( I got a notice I was to receive a package today, but didn't know from who)
It was my K3ll back from Pentax/Ricoh. I opened it & found a brand new K3ll. It works perfectly including the HDMI port.

I'm very happy to have my K3ll back and it being new even happier. I'm not even going to go into what happened at Precision. All that matters is that Pentax did the right thing & I didn't even have to ask. From the time it went to Pentax & back to me was under two weeks. If I had it all up from the time it went to Precision it was 2 months, 1 week, 4 days. (72 days)

Thanks to all who offered advice & followed the drama.

UPDATE:

It's been 9 1/2 weeks since my little sweetheart left me to end up playing Elizabeth McGraw (Kim Basinger) in the before mentioned movie. I'll leave the twisted parable similarities to your own conclusions.

My camera has been at Pentax for about a week. They were able to look at it on Monday and found that it was indeed broken & didn't work. They are waiting on the part and will email me when completed.

If you knew me 20 years ago, patient and forgiving never cross my mind. One day, I just got tired of the fighting, the anger & making a donkey's ass out of myself. (At times I still do)

I worked for Toshiba back in the late 70's. I worked in the parts, shipping/receiving department and worked closely with the techs. I saw stuff come in and shipped it out. I saw 1st hand when one clown who oversees a department can make it hard on employees and customers. There were people who had the responsibly but not the authority to do what was right for the customer.

So, I guess I'm saying, "I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water" with Precision. I have worked for large corporations, small companies, to having just one business partner, to working on my own. And from the largest to where it was only me, there was always one big jerk there. :o

I also see how short life can be, so when I 1st sent it off I made up my mind that I was going to try and not lose my cool. From all the posts I read, I expected them to mess it up at least twice. If mine came back fixed within a 1 1/2 weeks (Which it did) I might have gotten so excited I would had a stroke.

My K3ll is going back for the 4th time, however this time it's going to Pentax Corporate Office. Even after 3 times of not fixing the problem, I'm not throwing hate toward Precision.

They have some very caring & competent people working for them. Both Elie and Sharlene went above & beyond to try to get my camera fixed.

They must have some talented people working there because when they sent my camera back this last time they had taken pictures of some of the techs and lots of every brand name camera's. I'm guessing, but there is someone, or something in the way they process their work which needs some fine tuning.

A lot of people are getting fast turn around times and are more than happy with the results. The other problem could be just too much work and not able to find experience techs to do the quality work in a timely manner.

I'm happy for the OP & I hope we hear more great stories in the future as well. My K3ll & my K-1 has a lot of warranty left on them & I want to hear praise & great outcomes with them.

Light meter issues with Pentax ME

Sorry, I know nothing about photocells, but I use a light meter (Sekonic L758DR) There are old one's which can be obtained for very little, and even some models of the Sekonic for less than $200. I just got my ME Super back from Eric a month ago. It's usually spot on with what the ME Super meter shows, but I love the Sekonic for the ability to change setting on the fly, and then change them on the ME. I have the K1000, ME Super, K20D, K5, K-3ll & the new full frame K-1. I use it with all of my camera's.

I purchased the K20D that he was selling. The camera was just as he stated. Excellent condition & fast shipping. As soon as he sells the rest I can add great feedback. Until then, I wanted to give a good word and a bump.

The guy who I talked to at Pentax said it was going to Pentax Corporate. Either way is fine with me, if they fix it, or replace it. When I told the guy that Precision sent me a one day UPS shipping, he said,

"We don't want to send it there, because at this point they might surprise us & do some thing positive".

So Pentax is more than aware of the problems there. Makes me wonder if they're going to stay with them.

If I was Pentax, I would hold off payment for 3 times my camera was sent to them. Maybe that's why they want to have it. Once they see what the problem & see it is broken they won't pay them.

Anyway, every time I get it back, I'm excited just to hold it for a day. It really is a great camera, & I have to say I think I like it even more than my K-1.

If I lose my sense of humor, then I lose. One of my favorite quotes is, "Every time you get upset at something, ask yourself if you were to die tomorrow, was it worth wasting your time being angry?"

Sharlene at Precision was very apologetic about getting my email address wrong. It took here almost an hour to get it to me. She called me a number of times to ask me if I got it, so I know she was doing her best.

Of course, as soon as I get the UPS shipping slip, Pentax emails me a UPS shipping slip. So, now it's going to go to Pentax. I'm not wanting to email Sharlene at Precision after all her hard work. Oh well, I know I'm better off letting it go to Pentax.

I've been going to the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital for over 44 yrs. I'm use to the abuse and incompetence. Everything else is a cake walk. :)

There's a few nice women over at Precision. Eli & Charlene. Charlene sounds like she's a few years beyond retirement, but she's a sweetheart & makes almost as many mistakes as myself. As the saying goes, "There's light at the end of the tunnel" And I'm just hoping it's not a train coming my way.

The lady at Precision say I would get a shipping slip for UPS within 10 to 20 mins. It's been almost 7 hours. I called Pentax this morning & they are going to see if they can send it to Corp office to fix it. I called Precision to let them know I didn't receive my shipping slip. They enter my email address in wrong. This woman told me she would pass on a note with my email address and hung up. I called Pentax back and found out Precision had given them my wrong email address and my home address.

Pentax told me that they get every report from Precision which is nice to know, but they don't connect the dots that it wasn't fixed the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time. My money is on Pentax to do something, so we'll wait & see.

Called Precision 6:00 am my time & they said Eli is not in. Nice lady apologized and is sending me another One Day UPS shipping paper. I had to get her to promise that it would be checked by upper management before it's sent back to me. I told them that if they can get it to work with one of their cables, send me the cable and I'll pay full price for it, plus shipping it back to them. I'm still calling Pentax as soon as they are open, and filing a BBB complaint as well. It's the last thing I want to do, as I think BBB complaints are going to come back & bite me in the butt. I don't want to be the reason anyone doesn't buy a great camera like the K-3ll or any of the other fine lineup of camera's. However, this is the 4th time and it looks like I won't get it back for a few weeks, which will make it over 2 months that I've not been able to use my camera.

Am I being unreasonable to ask Pentax to extend my 1 yr warranty for 2 months?
