My first time developing 6x7 on a reel! This picture is a demonstration of everything done wrong, haha. I just started shooting 4x5 and so I bought everything for home development, and then decided to just buy a reel to use with my Pentax 67 stuff. However, I bent the film all up on the reel. Then I underdeveloped it. Oh and I didn't wash it properly with the wetting agent so it's dusty. 4x5 sheets are so much easier for me...

Anyway despite all that I think this shot is pretty neat. 105mm f/2.4 wide-open, with TMax400 pushed to 800 supposedly.

4000 dpi

Full disclosure: I did do my usual USM processing in Photoshop. But that's a given, IMO.

Here's an architectural shot I did with a Pentax 67 and the latest 200mm lens on Velvia 50. Scanned with a Nikon LS-8000.

I'll also include a 100% crop. This lens is sharp! The crop equates to an image over 8 feet tall.

Here is a fresh shot. Pentax 67, 55mm, O56 filter, on Fuji Across 100 film.

I'm still new at scanning b&w film. Any suggestions with that are appreciated! I'm using a Nikon Coolscan 8000.

Wow, neat! I always wondered why the B setting worked in the meter, which didn't make sense. Thanks for the tip!

400mm Lens Recommendations

The older Pentax 67 400mm f/4 lens is still a stellar performer. I use it adapted to my Nikon D700 and at f/5.6 it is sharp, contrasty, and has little to no CA anywhere. I have used it on my Pentax 67 but I haven't been able to test it thoroughly enough to say anything for sure - but it looks good so far.

The great thing is a number have been showing up on ebay for $600-$900. Not bad!

I was EXTREMELY lucky and got one for $75 - but with a huge fungal infection. Got it cleaned and all for $135 or so - and it's beautiful.

Shot a roll of 220 on the 120 setting...will this save me?

Probably right...argh. Adding insult to injury, I'll have to pay extra to get the long roll developed.

Thanks guys.

Probably would have been a good plan. Unfortunately I already rolled it the rest of the way up.

Do you think my idea would work?

I believe everything was Provia 100f but the last two might have been Velvia 100. I'd have to find the slides to check for sure.

Thanks!

I'd love to post some of my pictures from my Pentax 67. I love this camera!

I don't remember what a lot of these were but if you want to know I'll try.

Okay I'm an idiot. Don't usually shoot 220 but was given a few rolls of Velvia 220 (the original).

On the second roll I forgot to change the pressure plate and film counter. D'oh!

Here is what I was wondering: if I reload the film backwards, and shoot through the whole thing with a lens cap on, and then re-reload it and shoot till the 11th or 12th frame, can I go on with the roll without any adverse effects?

I really don't want to waste this film.

Thanks for the help, as always :)

Thanks for the suggestions...I had already priced an F-mount but I hadn't thought of buying a really cheap busted film camera! Good idea. The #1 extension tube for the Pentax surely can't be too expensive. I'm just not sure how'd I'd graft them together...

For the short term I do think I have an extra body cap for the 67 and maybe a rear cap I can sacrifice for my Nikon...

Thanks

Yes I know that sounds dumb, smaller image circle, etc.

However, I checked and my Nikon 200mm Micro lens at closest focusing just about covers the whole film area when I hold it up to the mount, just a little vignetting at the corners (and I hadn't even stopped down). This is the sharpest lens I've ever used so I'd just like to try it on my 6x7 for fun.

Anyway, is there anyway to do this? I know there probably isn't an off-the-shelf product. I can't fabricate it myself, I don't have the tools/time (BTW I'd be willing to pay someone to do it if they wanted).

Anyone got any ideas?

Pentax 67 - little switch with "M" written on it on right side.

Just a follow up for those who might come later and have the same question:

It is in fact a multi-exposure mod. The switch actually "locks" on either side of a small post, and when "M" is showing it won't advance the film when the lever is cocked, and when it's shifted to hide the "M" the camera operates normally.

I decided to keep the camera for myself since it's a rare mod. Unless I'm able to swing a really good price. If anyone has got an idea of its value I'd be interested to know.

Thanks for the help guys.

Here's a picture for posterity:

Any idea what that auction went for? I was considering keeping this body if it was in fact a multi-exposure mod but I really don't need it.

Also there was three posts that got deleted, what happened?

Hi, I've searched all over the internet for information and can't find it, so I thought I'd post here.

I am a happy 67 user, with a gamut of lenses and cameras. I have recently bought a few lots of cameras/lenses with the intention of selling off what I didn't want.

Anyway, I came upon something strange. One Pentax 6x7 camera has a small metal switch on the right side right next to the 120/220 switch. It pivots either way, and holds down a small button when in the center of it's travel. There is a "M" inscribed on the body.

I couldn't find any references to this switch/button anywhere, but I could just be using the wrong terminology. So my question is, does anyone know what it is or where it came from?

My only guess is that it is a multi-exposure modification, but I can't test that without wasting some film which I don't want to do.

Thanks! Also, thanks for the excellent resource this site provides!
