Been a very long time since picking up the camera. Headed out to the Awhitu Coastline (New Zealand) late afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the fire that appeared in the sky. Got very wet as the tide was coming in, and at times found myself waist deep with my tripod in the air, and gear on my back :D . Great to get out again. I'm sure the processing isn't to everyone's taste but it seems to be a popular thing these days using luminosity masks etc, and I quite enjoy the workflow :). Let me know what you think!

So I decided to give HDR a re-visit recently. I feel when shooting direct into sun it can be quite useful, but certainly a lot longer to process the images into one. Here's one I ended up with.

After moving to Ontario from the Rockies I've not been out much, and wildlife isn't so abundant here. Not to mention the weather conditions :s . Can't wait to get back to NZ in 2 weeks for some nice weather. I fear my F*300 may not get so much use there however :(

Well...Today I got an email congratulating me I had been chosen for the top 20 out of over 800 entries! Super happy about this :) . I'm unsure if I chose the right photos but it's got me this far. I chose 1,3,4,5,6,7

Here are some more shots from my recent visit back home. I seem to have a thing for slow shutter speed these days :)
Tolaga Bay is home to NZ's longest wharf at ~600m long and is also the longest in the Southern Hemisphere. Had just one night here at the camp ground. A nice place. These shots so just before dark, night time and sunrise :cool:

I have just go back from my trip home to NZ and thought I'd post a few of the first shots I have edited. I would have loved to do more photography but was on a tight schedule travelling about non stop. Not often I got out at the good times of day :hmm:
I was going to ask people to comment on the white balance as I am currently editing on my 32 inch LCD TV :o due to my broken laptop screen. I am curious to see how images show on an actual computer screen. These images are prob not the best to talk about WB but I will post some more at a later date.

Walked up tunnel this afternoon for a bit of exercise. Decided to avoid the ski hill being the weekend and -25 c or so. Tried my hand at HDR. A lot of snow has fallen in the last week. :)
