It's fixed now, although the fix wasn't what I thought would do it. I cleaned the contacts on the lens that connects it to the camera body using my lenspen and that has improved the processing time after a photo is taken :S

Thanks for the replies all. Lens correction is greyed out, but it's always been off. The copyright info placeholder has never been enabled as well. Puzzling indeed :S

Hi all,
I've noticed that when I've been taking pictures with my K-x and using my Tamron 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 lens, it takes around 2-3 seconds after the photo has been taken for the image to be processed and shown on the LCD screen. It's noticeably slower than when I take pictures using my 50mm f1.4 lens. Anyone have any ideas why this is the case?

Thanks a lot everyone. Makes a very interesting read.
I'm gonna just take some everyday photos for the time being and read some books on SLR photography.

I've just bought a Pentax K-x as my first dSLR camera (came with a 18-55mm lens) and I'm stuck on how to capture fast-moving shots at night time. An example of a picture I'm trying to achieve is below:
Obviously I wouldn't able to take pictures this close up due to the zoom of my lens (this isn't the issue). From what I can gather though, the shutter speed needs to be extremely fast (like 1/1200). However, the low light would make my pictures nearly pitch black. Would I need to buy another lens with a larger aperture (eg. 50mm f/1.4) to achieve results similar to the pic above?
