I'm looking for a (kinda) modern film Pentax camera.
I live in Argentina, and for some reason Pentax autofocus SLRs are almost non-existent. There are tons of cameras for sale from the previous era (K1000, Spotmatic, MX, etc.), but if you want something a little less old than that you are out of luck. Once in a while something pops up, usually an overpriced entry level body.

I was wondering, is there any difference between the 7 and 8 element Super Takumar 50mm f/1,4?
Does any of them has a better build quality, optical performance or something else?
Thanks!

While I have a Pentax DSLR, my main digital camera is a m4/3 Olympus. I use it with my Takumars and a few other old manual lenses with an adapter.
When I’m shooting film I always use that Spotmatic. ---------- Post added 01-20-20 at 08:48 AM ----------
I live in Argentina and in here, for some unknown reason, the MX is one of the most expensive film cameras you can buy.
Maybe because of its huge viewfinder?
I’ve never used one, so I can’t tell.

I already have a digital body, I’m looking to replace my film camera.
My Spotmatic died, so I want to buy a 35mm camera with a K mount.

Most lenses I have are Super Takumar with M42 mount.
Those are the pretty much the only lenses I use when shooting digital. Heck, I don’t even have an autofocus lens.
I’ve always shot 35mm film with a Spotmatic that died, so I want to replace it with a camera with a K mount.
So the question is: which Pentax K mount camera deals better with adapted Takumars??
Thanks!!

Can I use exposure compensation while shooting in Av mode with an old M42 lens on a DSLR?
I have a K10D + original M42-->PK adapter + 50mm f1,4 Super Takumar.
Thanks!!

Thank you all for the responses!
I've read somewhere online (can't remember where) that the big seling point of the MX was it's huge viewfinder, roughly the same size as the Olympus OM1.
I've used a frined's OM! and, oh MY GOD!! It's amazing!
I've never used a MX, is that really true? Is the viewfinder that good????

Does anyone know the difference between the Pentax KX and MX?
So far, all I've found is the size and match-needle vs. led light.
Thanks!!

Great!
Is the meter accurate in all modes (average, center, spot)?
It's nice to see that you keep the Pentax in the family.
My first camera was a Spotmatic. My father gave it to me when I was about ten. Still use it from time to time.
Thanks man!

Does anyone know if the SMC Pentax-F 28mm F2.8 (SMC Pentax-F 28mm F2.8 Reviews - F Prime Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database) is fully compatible with a Pentax K10D?
I have and old manual focus K mount lens and, though it can be used, the meter reading isn't always right.
Does the SMC Pentax-F 28mm F2.8 have the same problem? Does the autofocus work? Can I control the aperture from the camera body (with the aperture ring on the lens set to A)? Is the meter reading accurate?
Thanks!!

I already have a K3 with a couple of autofocus lenses. I was looking for something more of a "old cheap reliable workhorse" to leave the Super Tak always on. But thanks!

I'want to to buy an old (in technology years) Pentax DSLR to use my old M42 50mm Super Takumar (it's from a Spotmatic, the very first camera I ever had).
I only need one dial to control the shutter speed, as I'll control the aperture right from the lens. I was thinking something along the lines of the Kr or Kx. Is there any limitation regardless metering, or something?
I already have a high end Pentax, but I want the "new-old one" to be attached to the Super Takumar all the time.
So the question is: do you have any special advice?
Thank you all!!

Vier

I'm interested in the Honeywell Pentax H1a with Asahi Pentax Meter (boxy model). Do you take international orders? I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina, what's the shipping cost?

So it's not really a Manual mode, right? I mean: you set the aperture using the aperture ring, then you press the green button and the body sets the "correct" exposure. Unless I'm missing something, that's an Av Mode, not Manual.

I just bought a new K5 (yeyyyy!!!), and I'm thinking about buying an old 35 f2,8 from Chinon (K mount).
Will I be able to use full Manual mode with that lens or just Av Mode??
What about metering? Center, spot, any limitations?
Regards!

I miss the SR switch on my old K100D. Just one thing a five year old camera is better than a K5-7.

Then my question is not about how the camera actually works, but about Pentax designers: why not simply put a AutoISO setting instead of a $%%%$ weird position on the dial? :D

I'm sure I'm not getting the whole picture, but shooting in TAv mode isn't just the same as shooting in Manual mode and Auto ISO???

Do you have any lens(es) to bundle with the camera?
You do take international orders, right? Can we make it a door-to-door service?

Thank you for the effort you put in this!
The lens I'm buying comes with both caps, the lens hood and the original leather case. Apparently, everything is in perfect shape.
One of the posts said that I should be looking for alternate versions of this lens, but in my country (Argentina) that's not that easy.
135 mm is one of the most wanted focal lenghts.
When using film, it's a short telephoto, when using cropped digital it's around 200.
People generally think that longer lenses may be ok to shoot film, but they tend to be impractical when shooting digital (depends on your photography of course).
Combine that with the fact that Pentax equipment is virtually non-existent around here (everything is from the big two) and you'll realize than finding a good Pentax lens it's harder than finding Waldo blindfolded.

Viernes
