Reminds me of the old joke:
One polar bear to another, "I love these things, crunchy on the ourside, soft and chewy on the inside!"

Do you know the shutter count? If not bring an SD card and take a couple of test photos.

Yes assume so :)
To the OP, how are you viewing your photos? If 1:1 then you will see noticeable noise with any crop sensor camera at 3,200. Most of the images posted here are down-sampled to ~1024 pixels on the long edge, and certainly there are a bunch of very nice high iso examples from the K30 in the image thread. Or use the sample photo search tool and select K30 and 3,200 iso. Do you get similar results to these?

Are you sure it's on the mirror, not on the glass focus screen? Either way if you hold the camera upside down and blow on the mirror with a rocket blower you'll probably get rid of it.

I guess it could be on the rear lens element; I notice the aperture was F13 which would normally have sensor dust looking sharper, not so round. Also nice cleanup job on your original post :-)

So when exactly did the problem start, when you changed the settings as recommended for older lenses?
Sounds like you might be "stuck" in optical preview mode, which would stop the lens down to f9.5 which would make the viewfinder a lot darker. Not sure how you select optical preview on the K10 - is it on the power switch?
Try undoing this setting anyway; might be smart to just restore default settings and start again.

Me too - the railway track photo looks particularly like data corruption. Try a new card before anything else.

If I owned a K-30 I'm not sure I would upgrade. I bought the K-3 as an upgrade from my K-r. Main features I wanted were (not necessarily in order):
- two e-dials
- pentaprism
- better low ISO
- weather sealing
- (MUCH) better AF
So your k-30 has 4/5 of these already.
