Well, here is my first moon shot... or at least one of the better of the bunch. Shot with a Vivitar 70-210 4.5 (at 210mm.)
Confused the hell outta me trying to get the settings all straight. Once I finally got the shots as I liked them, the focus apparently went off:mad:. Didnt realize it till I was back at the screen.
Not a lot of exif info to go on, according to LightZone, 1/500@f1.0 ISO200. Tweaked it a bit in LZ (crop, relight and sharpen.) and resized a bit for posting here.

No worries, my intention was to let folks have a go at it. I like to see ways of thinking outside my own box so to speak. I think its a great opportunity to learn from others and to see what can be done. How many times have you seen a shot and then thought, "WOW! Why didnt I think of that?"
That being said, I really like what you all have done here. I was working on an BW IF version in LightZone, but then I got off track trying to install PSCS2 in wine under linux. Yay it works, but boo I cant get it registered due to some sort of error.. BAH!
Anyway, back to subject.. I really like all the different versions and I like seeing that Gimp is quite capable as is of course PS. I like the B+W, but thinking maybe ADD to the contrast as opposed to reducing?... or maybe the image needs to be cropped to change the subject, as in cropping in on a portion? I dont know how well that will work tho, its not a very high quality image so size would be limited.

Wow, nice work guys. It never even dawned on me to change the color of the boat! I thought that maybe my first image was OVER sharpened.. but I know the second was too soft. I like the rust really standing out like that too. I like that sort of "dawn or dusky looking light" on yours Mike. Cloudy, I like that rust look- that really emphasizes what I was seeing that day.
Thoughts for my next try- remove the sticker from the door glass, and maybe crop the image much tighter, maybe to remove a lot of the left and right sides? Or maybe just desaturate the distracting greenery in the left upper corner and the bridge(?) in the right upper corner. And I guess I gotta go learn about processing in LAB too.. ;)
Thanks guys!

I was going thru some images and I came across these I had taken a few months back before I got my K10D. I had liked the subject matter, but I was a bit rushed and didnt have too much time to make adjustments, and it was a P&S anyway.. (but the Canon S40 has a pretty good set of controls.)
In any case, I PP'd these in LightZone the other day, cuz I think theres a good image in there somewhere and I'm doing a little beta testing of LZ for linux.
What I'd like is to get some CC, but also see what you folks can do with it. I'll post my 2 versions and a link to the original.

The latest version of LightZone for Linux is still a beta, and its good for around 90 days. I used 2.4 a while back, its kind of cool. It has a Zone System type of setup where you process by pulling zones up and down to adjust contrast and exposure. It works on RAW as well as jpeg, and its non-destructive to your original images. The latest seems to be more stable than the first beta.

Hmmm... just came across this thread and it reminded me that I havent seen my rebates either. I did get an email a while back mentioning something about 25.00? If I recall it shoulda been somewhere in the neighborhood of $100, since I bought the K10D body/battery grip/lens on the summertime(?) rebate.

My first try at raw processing with the K10D... Taken with the 18-55 kit lens, a few adjustments in raw and a bit of high pass sharpening along with a sepia tone at about 65-70% opacity.
Any and all C&C welcome! Thanks for looking.
(A bit larger version is in the gallery under machines)

I was also planning on making a lower offer, not sure how low she'll go. I was hoping to go for less than 100, but wouldnt feel too bad about paying 100. Doubt I'd get much for the body on ebay.
Of course, I DO plan on buying some NEW glass, LBA is always lurking... :)

I came across someone selling a 35mm outfit for 125.00 - - Pentax PZ10 camera body & manual, 1 camera bag for gear
- 1 SMC Pentax F 1:4-5.6/ 35-80mm zoom lens*49mm
- 1 Samyang 1:3.9/80-200mm lens*55mm
- 1 Sigma 1:3.5-4.5/ Aspherical 18-35mm lens*82
- 1 Sigma 1:2.8-4/ 35-70mm lens
- 1 Kenko 2x teleplus MC4 converter
- 1 Pentax shutter release cord
- 1 Quantum battery cord for pentax flash (flash and Quantum not included)
- 10 filters-
- 49mm+55mm+82mm Hoya- uv skylight filters on lens
- 49mm Hoya- orange(g), 8 yellow, Green(x1) filters
- 55mm Hoya- orange(g), 8 yellow, Green(x1) filters
- 1 Hoya 55mm circular polarizer filter
I'm just really looking at it for the lenses and filters. Thinking it might be fair price for some old glass to play with on the K10D, or should I just put the $$ towards a new Tamron 18-250?

Thanks for looking.
I was really just trying to get familiar with the camera, I think I set the auto bracket @ 1/3 or 1/2 stops. Maybe I should have gone a whole stop? I dont particularly care for any of them, but I lean towards the center shots as well.
When I get some time, I'll fire up CS3 and play around a bit and see what else I can do. Not sure exactly where to make changes, they seem OK out of the box, so to speak.
This was my second time to Gillette this year, previously with my Canon S40 P&S... just a "little" bit of an improvement! ;)
All in all, tho - I have MUCH to learn!

I put some images up from this past weekend. I shot a few hundred on a day trip, mostly in auto bracket. At this point I feel like a deer in the headlights!
I put up some select images in a gallery and hope that I can get some feedback from you knowledgeable folks! Gillette Castle
