Is the K-5 IIs dangerous...

This user have hundreds images with K5IIs and in all what I check I see only 2 with small amount of moire that can be easily taken out with LR.
Flickr: akahigeg's Photostream

My opinion is that K5iis cannot produce more moire then K100D or K-x. If you liked K100D or K-x (regarding image) you will like K5iis more.

K-5 IIs vs K-5 II - can you tell the difference?

My point is: K5II cannot support the same processing as K5IIs. Where K5IIs look good, K5II already have problems with more noise, the blur remains and more: look at the queen of hearts card, blue lines already become pixelated; look at the front coin. I repeat up is K5II down is K5IIs. Of course the differences are minimal but exist and if I go back with processing to put K5II at the same noise level as K5IIs, it become worst. Pleas look at my post in the full version of images. The crops are compressed in jpg again and more degradation may appear.
I am not defending K5IIs in any way, there are only my findings. I am still unsure if k5iis will be better then K5ii but not in term of sharpness or low light capabilities because will be, but in term of bad moire and bad aliasing (color aberration) (bad, i mean, to appear in every images and on a large scale). And from what I see until now, is present predominant at f5.6 in bright day light and when you use flash, in shiny black areas, in hair, in some clothes, in trees, in power lines, fences, roofs and anything with small repeating pattern. And some can be remove, some not, but if every picture needs processing of this kind is not worth it.

It is not. In K5II are more pronounced and still more blur.

Sharpening jpgs have no use for me, sorry. I have already an opinion. I did a lot of sharpening this days (from K5, K5II, K5IIs, 7D, Nex-5N, 5DmkII). I have enough. I just sell my K5 to go with K5IIs. We will see.
K5 was wonderful but no in low light focusing and for that he had to go.

I spoke about mine. Bay the way, I do't have yet k5IIs (it is ordered and hope to arrive at the end of this month) but I spent many hours analyzing all images came from k5IIs. My only worry is aliasing (not moire in special) but false colors that seems to appear more often.

Of course there are small artifacts, but I squeeze almost everything form the images and I cannot do more with K5II and still in this stage it has some blur. I can match sharpness and clarity but k5II will become more noisy then k5IIs.

I cannot define exactly, but how colors appear and how sharpness is applied I personally don't like. In RawTherapee I cannot set the sharpness as I like. It has the different algorithm and it is applied diffident as in LR. But it's just my preference and may be the lack of experience with RawTherapee.

I choose ISO1600 because is exact when noise came to life and details start to fade. At lower iso differences are not as pronounced. But this is important at k5IIs, to have more details at high iso.
I choose that parameters in LR exactly to extract maximum of details and keep noise low (and I think is very low for iso1600).
Noise in both images is equal and I cannot rise more sharpness in K5II without to degrade the quality of the image, therefore, k5IIs is better.

PS: I compare images processed with LR and RawTherapee and for some reasons, RawTherapee is much worse.

They are not correct compared. You cannot sharpen only K5II and not K5IIs. From my experience until now, K5IIs support more sharpening then K5II. You can judge yourselves:

K5II ISO1600
http://www.atcrom.ro/5017/index.php?cmd=dl&sfpg=Kks1Mi5qcGcqNjE2NWViZDUzNjJh...zQyYjk1MDZiZTM

K5IIs ISO1600
http://www.atcrom.ro/5017/index.php?cmd=dl&sfpg=Kks1MnMuanBnKjNkNWQzZjg0NzNl...FmNTAxN2M1ZTJi

both processed in LR4.2 (contrast +5, clarity +5, vibrance +10, Hue Red +20, Luminance Red +20, Sharp +50, Radius +1.4, Detail +70, Noise reduction +30, Noise detail +50, Lens profile correction enabled, Camera profile Embedded) More then that can produce artifacts.

I repost this, maybe you missed and is good to try it.

Quantitative Method for Micro Focus Adjustment for DSLRs - Enzo's Home

I tried and it works very well, unexpected. I have a DA* 16-50 and I been unhappy with it even if I adjusted the focus before. But using this method give me another setting better for every situation, even in low light now is perfect.

- in my situation the compiled class was not working. I use only the .java file and use "compile and run" (you need jdk for this).

Pentax-F 50mm f1.7 - Help

Hi again,

I just finish the focus adjustment on the lens. It was an adventure.
It is now perfect lens, eh, almost perfect because I cannot bring in camera focus adjustment to 0 but to -7. Now it is sharp from 1.7 for close object and for distant one (infinity focus).
I used JIS screwdrivers and I needed only PH00 and PH000.
At first I made a mistake: when I unscrewed the screws from the barrel I pressed the shooter button and the focus has been completely turned upside down. It took me some time to bring it to the correct position but I lost infinity focus. After I moved the focus ring back step by step It become better, a lot better then before. I leave it at -7 because it focused perfect and was difficult to bring it as it is now. I don't mind that is -7 adjusted in camera while the focus is spot on from f1.7.

Thanks you all

Pentax-F 50mm f1.7 - Help

Hi,
I just bought an F 50mm f1.7 which is very good but unfortunately has a pronounced front focus at f1.7 that is not completely corrected neither with -10. I need -1 or -2 more. This is not distinguishable above f2.5 but I want to use this lens from f1.7. For that I need (if is possible) to correct the focus in lens.
I found this: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/162930-pentax-...ity-focus.html
Can this procedure help me to correct the front focus ?
I don't want to try myself to see if ... or not. I need an opinion from someone that had did this before and know for sure that will work.
Thanks,

Adrian

Hi all,

I had the same problem. After first body with stain I receive second with this spots visible from f16 and up. Two spots first in line and after some photos third one. I take a risk and use a racket blower and guess what: they disappeared. All have a small halo around, but it seems it is just dust.

K5 and Sigma EF-530 DG Super Flash

Hi everybody.
I don't want to start another topic about k5 flash overexpose but only to ask if Sigma flashes has problems on K5 and particularly this flash: EF-530 DG Super.
On the other forum (dpreview), a user says that this flash don't have any problem with k5 and it's very good in direct, bounced and even wireless.
It is true ? Anybody tested it and can confirm this ?

I just bought a k5 body and I tested a sigma lens: 50-150 HSM II f2.8 and it refuse to focus in LV.
I tested on 2 k5 bodies and did the same test on another new sigma lens (50-150) (mine was 2 years old but was ok on k20d) and has the same symptom. :(

No stains, only 2 small dust spots (barely visible at f22).
