Use it at your own discretion. It's probably overkill and it might damage something in the camera or push dust inside it.
Others might want to chime in...

That's clearly lens dust. Rocket blower will take care of the easy ones; you'll need to wet clean your sensor for the stubborn ones. Using the blower often helps keep the stubborn ones at bay.

I think you'd be happier if you cleaned your sensor ;)

I wish I could buy this lens just to look at it and touch it...
And I love that on the aperture ring there is a 2...and then right next to it a 1.9, like it's saying yeah, f/1.9, I go there. :D

Yeah, the 12-24mm is not f/4 (and is it VCM?), and 45mm instead of 55mm? There is a bit of difference there, not to mention it's not a pancake.
Unless they release one heck of an NX30 and 4-5 lenses to go with it, I'm not sure who's going to take them seriously. And I wonder what the hell the NXF1 is going to be...

Up for sale is my D-BG2 grip for the K10D and K20D. I haven't used it in a long time so there's no point in me keeping it. I'd rate it at 9.5 out of 10, showing some slight signs of use and wear (see 2nd photo), but in perfect structural shape. Included are the original box, instruction booklet and plastic pin cap. Sad... We're about to enter 2014, over 2 years after this thread went dormant, and Samsung have still not released the lenses on their 2012 roadmap. In case you forgot, they were:
55mm f/1.8 iFn pancake 12-24mm f/4 ED iFn VCM (Voice Coil Motor)
80-400mm f/4-5.6 OIS SSA iFn
135mm f/2 OIS SSA iFn
24mm f/1.8 ED SSA iFn
And the NX20 was not radically different to the NX10, and we're still waiting for an NX30. Well, I'm not waiting; I just purchased a Fuji X-E2 with a few excellent Fuji-X primes.
What the hell happened, Samsung??? |

Mirror lenses are more easily shot in Av mode, so the camera sets the appropriate shutter speed (and you can add EV comp. to taste); no Green Button needed, though the K100D does have one, except it's not green and is labelled 'AE-L'
Keep ISO as low as possible while ensuring shutter speed is faster than 1/500s. If you have a K100D Super (which has image stabilisation) you can get away with slower speeds. This assuming you're shooting handheld; if using a sturdy tripod you can shoot at slower speeds too.
If you want, you can shoot in M mode, but make sure you understand the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO first.
Hope this helps!

That's pretty good! Any chance we can see a 100% crop...? :)
How do you hold that rig steady? Do you use two tripods?

I just wanted to make clear that the Tamron 1.4x TC and Pentax 1.7x AF TC are both excellent and I've got great results with them on a number of lenses...just not mirror lenses.
I've had no luck with a number of 2x TC's I've tried, so I gave up on them long ago. I never tried any of the Pentax-A 2x TC's, which some people report getting good results with; I was just never so desperate that I was willing to pay the asking prices.

By all means, make some comparison shots and post them here for us to enjoy. At web sizing there shouldn't be much difference if you nail the focus, but at 100% is where you'll see the difference. I suspect that up to 8x12 prints there won't be much if any difference either.
As for the teleconverter, I've not had success with them in conjunction with a mirror lens. I've tried both the well-liked Tamron 1.4x and the Pentax 1.7x AF TC, none of which delivered good results. I'll be interested in seeing what you get with your Tamron adaptall TC.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet that your Sigma @ 400mm, slightly cropped to give a 500mm FoV, will beat out the Tamron mirror lens in contrast and resolution by quite a bit. We don't use mirror lenses for their sharpness or high contrast :)

That sure looks like a K mount to me! No electronic contacts, though, so you'd have to use the Green Button to get correct exposure. And of course, it's manual focus, but that's one of its attractions :)

I have this lens in M42 mount; it's very good and highly under appreciated; I paid nothing for it.
Nice bird you have there, great for testing lens sharpness ;)

I know! It looks very Limited, and I always wondered why they didn't just add autofocus to the lens and release it as a 50mm f/1.2 Ltd. Even at $1,000 I'm sure they would've sold like hotcakes. Pentax's decisions (or lack thereof) really baffle me
