hehe the only thing holding me back from a nikon FF.......is $$$. to be honest if pentax released a camera today, i'd be hard pressed to even justify buying that. my K-5 has been serving me quite well since i got it (a replacement since the first one i got had the dreaded spots). i'm no means a pro...i just like taking pics. also in my bag is a D200 generously gifted to me from my boss when his wife switched to the D7000. i use it every now and then, even using it with my FGZ 540 (in A mode, and the D200 in manual). works quite well. nikon capture nx2 software is so much easier to use than the silkypix.....but i'm sure y'all mostly use lightroom.
one thing i absolutely love about shooting with a nikon.......their creative lighting system. CLS is just really fool proof lighting. used my D200 with a SB-800 awhile ago for a birthday party for my friend, and all i did was just snap away. it really amounted to point-n-shoot--but with continuous AF, hi-speed shooting and the fantastic CLS. my wife used that to help me (i of course shot with the K-5 and 540).
kinda tangential...if and when i do switch to full frame, my computer will be ready. just got the following: 960gb SSD, core i7-4930K, 32Gb of ram hehe.

kinda glad nikon is leading the charge marrying retro style with modern innards. i'm sure the new Df won't please everyone. and i'm sure if we ever get a FF pentax, there will be those who aren't satisfied. one thing for sure, the Df is giving nikon a lot of exposure. i'm sure an LX styled DSLR would sell like hotcakes. methinks however, when and if the pentax FF is released...it'll be a real modern classic, not unlike the K-7/5/3 cameras.

man the DF is lovely. time to find old AF-D primes to stick on this thing :P (with the aperture ring, of course)

35mm film production is gonna go the way of the dinosaur. really not relevant anymore. besides there is so many used 35mm film cams on the market, there really is no motivation for it. don't get me wrong....i would love such a hybrid beast!

i like it. the more i think and look at the K-01, i like it. as others have said....this is what P&S folks will want to step up too. i think....i'm going to buy one...but probably a couple months after it's released--to see what kinds of bugs need to be sorted (not unlike how the K-5 was when it was launched). my mum will probably love using this camera......it looks quite easy for her to use. i have a spare 18-55 that came with my K-5....it'll be awesome :)

pentax is going quite avant-garde with the Q and now the K-01. ricoh of course just popped out the GXR module with the 16MP APS-C sensor. they also have the M mount module too. we get a lens road map that furthers the K-mount. and even stronger hints of another DSLR. exciting times for sure with pentax. who knows...this might be the game changer like the original K series was back in the 70/80's. ya gotta love it. spring's in the air here in northern california....time to take my K-5 for some shooting :)

just a bump on this thread....i have windows xp and windows vista.....and both run V4.33 quite oddly....it looks like it stutters. running V4.34 isn't any better. i downgraded to V4.31 on my overclocked core 2 quad q9550 (running at 3.8GHz + 8Gb of ram, this is the Vista 64 bit rig). 4.31 i actually can use quite well....just wondering if anyone knows why PDCU 4.34 runs oddly......

yup this is what i want :)
hmm i am not adverse to using the cord (i have a couple of those too) but does it work? hehe i will have to find that out eh? the AF200FG is pretty economical at around 130 bucks at b&h......hehe if it doesn't work, i can always give the AF200FG to my wife so it can work on her K20D :)
thanks for your reply!

oh i don't have a AF200FG. i am just using my onboard flash and using it with my AF540FGZ wirelessly as a slave bounce. i thought maybe the AF200FG could be used instead of the on-board flash to conserve battery power for the K-5. i do have the F5p adapter + cord .... but then not sure where to mount the AF200FG...as i have the AF540FGZ on the bracket.

that's what i was afraid of. i wouldn't mind getting the AF360FGZ--much nicer flash :) but the way my bracket is set up, i don't think it would have enough clearance. i don't want to use optical trigger...only since at places like wedding receptions, that could be triggered by other folks' cameras. the metz 58 AF-2 looks like an attractive option with that smaller forward facing flash....hmmm i might look into that.
