Nice lens giveaway! I'd love to have a 55-300 for my son's K-01.

A FA 31mm Ltd. would look great on my bright green K-x!

Agreed. I bought one for my son for a HS photography class. This was when the price bottomed out when it was clear that it's future wasn't bright. It takes fantastic pictures. I sometimes like to use it instead of my K-X.

Thanks for the info! I'll take it into consideration. I've received my viewfinder magnifier, so I'll work with it for a while to see if it helps enough with manual focusing before I go nuts and get a screen.

Kerrydown:
Magnifier sounded like a good idea, so I ordered one immediately. Still pondering the focusing screen...

Hello Na:
Thanks for the reply.
I'm considering the focusing screen vs. a new camera body because it'd be easier to convince my wife that a $150 purchase is better than a $600 one. I have used CiF in the past, but the limitation of center point focusing would be annoying. My old Pentax film camera had a split prism screen, and I miss it. I do like the focus-peaking of the K-01. I bought one for my son, and now I'm jealous. I don't think he'll trade.

Hello:
I've got a K-x, and I like it a lot. I use it frequently with manual focus lenses, but sometimes it's difficult to get a good focus in the viewfinder with the stock focusing screen. I have been eye-ing the Katzeye replacement screens, and I was wondering if anyone who's used them has advice about them. Please let me know. Thanks!

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a beginner/intermediate photographer. I was given a Pentax P3 SLR when I was a teenager, so when it came time to buy a DSLR, I decided to stick with Pentax (K-x) so that I could keep using my one-and-only lens from the P3, a Promaster 28-70 Macro (not sure of the model). I went with the K-x mainly from good reviews and price within my range.
Unfortunately, that Promaster lens wouldn't fit without some minor modification to a flange that protruded from the back of the lens. I barbarically used a Dremel rotary tool to grind off the flange to make it fit.
I'm a big fan of Pentax now, and enjoy the decent supply of used equipment on the market these days.
