Another kingfisher, this time a female (underside of the beak orange vs. all black on males)
Pushing the DA* 300 & HD DA 1.4x teleconverter combination to their focus speed limits, next time I'll bring the PLM :D

Forster's Tern

Great Egrets and Red-breasted Mergansers, with a few gulls. Sorry it's not a good picture, these were over 100 yards away. There were over 40 great egrets, at least 50 red-breasted mergansers, 3 snowy egrets, and 2 great blue herons, some cormorants, and gulls, all chasing fish, it must have been a big school of the right size. The mergansers were really fun to watch, swimming, flying, and diving under, I had no idea they could swim so fast on top of the water, probably faster when they go under. I watched this go on for about ten minutes before they started slowing down and dispersing.
