I guess that would be useful in a sandstorm in the desert, at the beach in heavy mist areas etc. Thanks for sharing.

Lots of answers here based on your monetary criteria but no one can answer your question without knowing what your intent is.
Are you doing portraits, landscape, macro, aerial, architectural....?
Or do you just want a lens for your K-5 to look "the part"?

Same thing here, the more I use it the more I like it. I use the Start screen for quick everyday stuff and flip back to the Desktop for more intense computing. It's a good balance in my opinion.

If $8000 is that important to you, you shouldn't have lent it out. I understand that it sucks but you should have considered the consequences before lending it out. Have you talked to your friend about repair costs/responsibilities?
Personally, when (and if) I decide to lend equipment, vehicles, "toys" etc I have a written document prepared, nothing fancy, just so both parties are aware of any ramifications if damage is done. This is generally for anything worth over 5K.

Really?
People lend me their photographic equipment from time to time and it often goes back in back in better condition then when it came to me. ;)
I guess it just comes down to your view on life...optimism vs pessimism. The more I choose to be an optimist the easier and better life just seems to be! Life as a pessimist is just too hard on the soul and not realistic in my not so humble opinion.

Accidents happen. :asleep:
Friendships, if we are lucky, last a lifetime. A camera can be fixed/repaired.
C'est la vie!

Unless he wants to talk in-depth about the Golden Spiral, I have much better things to do with my time.
I am so happy I am finally getting over obsessing over gear! (sorry, that was off-topic...)

That "advantage" can also been seen as a disadvantage. It just comes down to how you want to create/present your image.
My most used lens for landscapes is the Zeiss 50mm f2 ZK. Wonderful image qualities... I create multi-row panoramas quite often.
My most recent purchase, a Sigma DP2 Merrill is quickly taking over as my go-to landscape camera. It is 45mm and renders with such clarity and amazing colour that I can't put it down.
Happy shooting! :)
