the name on the emails was roger wooldridgge rogerwooldridgge@gmail.com and the confirmation emails were from consult.1525@consultant.com ...yeah ,now an army of smart asses are going to jump on my back and say 'hey ,wasn't it obvious' ,yes ,it was,ok ,let's finish with this

nah ,it was not from this forum ,although i posted an add on this forum as well and a guy was asking me to ship it to portugal. Be careful cause it's easy to get tricked if you don't know how to use paypal . The guy that scammed me was prepared for it ,he even knew how much i was going to pay for the postage for that weight . He was claiming that he lives in UK somewhere but he want's it as a gift for some person in Nigeria . I had my doubts but i thought that i was under the protection of Paypal and as long as i get the payment i could send it any ware ,but the guy did not make the actual payment like i thought ..It is a pretty stupid mistake if you think about it ,but like i said i did not know how it works ,i used paypal for the first time .
I tracked it down but it was shipped abroad , he probably has the goods now and he's taking pictures of his mom or something .

and it's not like he just popped up ,he made lots of enquiries about the camera ,the warranty ,usage ... he had it all planed ,he exchanged lot's of emails with me .I did not know how paypal works ,you can call it common knowledge ,maybe it is for you

It's worthless guys . Nothing can be done .They have also abused the fact that it was the first time i was using Paypal and did not know how it works .Now that i finished a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of jack and took a shower i got it .Here's how they did it :
First is posted the add on a website ,then i started to get responses ,lot's of them ,mostly from people from UK but this bastard was first so i said ok ,i'll sell it to you.I have sent him a money request ,and here was the trick ,i got an email back confirming that the payment was done trough paypal.But in my paypal account the status of the transaction to this day is 'Pending' ,and this is what i did not know ,i thought paypal got the money from the buyer but the status 'pending' is because he did not get the goods yet .Wrong ,the guy never answered my request instead he got my email so he sent me a fake email confirming the payment (I never did this before so i don't know if you get an confirmation email or not ,but the email looked genuine ,with paypal banners sending to the actual paypal website and also sending me trough some verification pages on paypal,and it was the actual paypall website).Not knowing what 'pending' really meant i said ok ,i will send him the package.So i did the next morning and gone it was.And here is the funny horror parts of the story
1.I had buyers from uk willing to meet me
2.I also payed for the shipping to ****ing Nigeria
3.I sold it to him cause he was the first on the line and here i was ,the nice guy
Then i found out that he's a scam ,and told him so ,and never got back with an email.1300£ of goods .
That's it guys ,it's been a fun ride on this forum but it's time to move on ,be aware and make sure you know how to use paypal or other services available on line.

If any of you has experience with paypal please help. I tried to sell my K-r and an really expensive lens ,a guy popped in and sent it to him ,to bloody Nigeria . Now about ten days have passed and nothing.I have made money requests to him before sending it to him ,i got the confirmation that he payed and didn't suspect anything. In my paypal account, the transactions with him still have 'Pending' status,no payment has been done yet.I found his email address and exactly the first emails sent to me by him posted on the internet by other users saying he's a scam . What should i do now ?

i was just asking in case of the need of a longer reach ..why are you saying that a TC will bring the DA lens to mediocrity ? from what i have read TC are used all the time ... are they not quality TC on the market that don't bring a DA lens to mediocrity ?

well i am not really satisfied with the iso performance ,if i go to 1600 it's really noisy ..if i try to open up some shadows it's horror ,then i have to take the noise out and i end up with a creamy picture ...not really a fan o high iso ,i prefer an wide aperture ... i really don't see the use of that extended iso setting of 12800 ,does anybody actually uses that ?

is shot good and sharp pictures at 2.8 ,with proper focus on the face so the lens can take it ,this is a pretty expensive lens ...but very often although i focus on the face ,and i get the ok from the camera ,still the sharpest point is somewhere else..for example i took some shoots on a football pitch ,i was not filling the frame with the subject just ,they where shots taken from a distance of about 10 meters ,at 50mm ,and although focusing on the face ,the face was still a bit blurred but the grass had some great sharpness on it ..so i don't know what to say

well i think the face ,the hands and the guitar should be in focus if it were to be properly focused ,the hands might have a little blur from moving but it's the same case as on the face ..and also the guitar is out ...they all should be in focus as they are on the same plane fairly ,but you can see clearly how sharp is the shirt with the drawings and the 8 on it ..that's where the camera focused ,and i get this very often ,the face is out and there's a place somewhere in the frame of sharpness ...this why i am asking if the camera has a problem ,cause if it would be camera shake everything should be out of focus

i focused on the face first ,locked the focus and slightly moved the camera a bit,i wanted the hand playing the guitar to be on the intersection of the thirds ... was shot at f 2.8... the problem is that i get this a lot of times ,at first i thought that i was not paying attention to the 11 autofocus points ,but now that i gave it a thought as well the problem is still there ... focusing manually i don't thing it will change anything as when i use autofocus trough the view finder everything seems ok ,but i'll try ....

it's not artificial light,it's day light ..i read some info about k-r having an issue with focusing when you set the WB ..in this case the WB is custom set with an wb filter ....
so my k-r does have an issue with focusing properly ...

i get this a lot of times ,the face in a portrait is not sharp and the sharpest area is somewhere else ,in this case is on the shirt ... the shutter speed was hi ,about 1/200s so moving subject should not be a problem ,iso 800,f2.8 ,lens da 16-50... i focused specifically on the face ,got the red square right on the face but this is what came out
... i also get this same problem when i focus on the face,lock the focus and recompose ,the focus is set to AFS so it should be no problem there ,trough the view finder everything look alright but o the screen this is what i get...any thoughts?

I was thinking it would be nice to have a topic where people share with others the mistakes that they used to do as beginners so that we all know that we're not alone and maybe cut off the frustration some of us might be going trough .As we are all humans i am sure we all make the same mistakes at first .I am an amateur but i like to think i am aware of some common mistakes that i still make ,even though i like to think i am aware of them .I own the k-r + the 16-50 da f2.8
So ,what are the most common mistakes beginners do ? Please add
1.Not being aware of the big,sometimes huge dynamic range in a scene often resulting in fried highlights or pitch black shadows .I mean ,we see a scene ,it looks great in our eyes ,we want to capture it but the thing is the camera does not have the sensitivity of our eyes ,it needs more balanced light
2.Not setting a custom white balance often resulting in ugly color casts and unnatural looking subjects
3.Not looking for a background or a foreground for the subject ,often one sees something nice and just shoots away to capture it ,and if it does ,and i often do that ,i am not fully aware of how that background of foreground will interact with the subject ,i often find it that that background or foreground steals the attention away from the subject
4. Not focusing properly ,i often want to apply the rule of thirds but i forget to lock the focus on the subject so i get the focus somewhere in the middle
5.Choosing the worst moments of the day to shoot pictures ,most people go in the middle of the day instead of early mornings or late afternoons
6.Not keeping things simple ,always adding a lot of stuff in the frame
well i still do all of this things unfortunately ...
please add mistakes that you used to do or still do ,i am sure we'll all benefit from being aware of them
