Good luck! I tried this with a KX. Although the polishing worked, it distorted the lens curvature and made it completely unusable. If you are not successful with polishing the eyepiece lens, PM me. I have several defunct istDL's, I can salvage a serviceable lens and send it to you.

I will take almost anything apart and work on it, but I put this on the level of open heart surgery! Not for me, but I admire your skill and understanding of the mechanics involved. Well done!

Thank you! I like how backlighting will make a flower's petals seem to glow.

Slightly frost-bitten rose in my wife's garden. Back-lit in late afternoon.

My wife recently bought a Panasonic LX10 as a "purse camera." I like it!

After you press live view, press the 'INFO" button. Then you can change magnification with the e-dial. Hope this helps.

The K20 probably does not have a solenoid. If it is like the K10, the flash release is mechanically connected to the release button. If you can raise the flash on your K20 with the camera turned off, then there is no solenoid. The aperture mechanism does not use a solenoid, either. As PhotoGem has outlined, you need a K100,110,K-X,K-R or *istDxx series camera body to harvest a white solenoid. The repair process is not difficult, but requires patience.
Just my .02 worth.

I bought my SP500 in 1972. I has been used a lot, stored in less than ideal conditions at times. It still works fine. I have had and sold several Spotmatics, and none has ever had a problem with the cloth shutter curtains. I would say that the cloth shutter is quite reliable.

Great image, Tony. But, for what it's worth, this is an F-5. The Canopy is the clue, this is a single-seater. The T-38 is a two seat version of the F5, and looks very similar.

I'm quite impressed with it. You are right, the 20mp sensor is something special. I'm relieved, too, that it is working OK.
