Changing Focusing Screen -- Newbie

Hello All... Here is another Focusing screen question here.

A quick little back ground... I have a Pentax K-x. I am using a Tamron 75 -300mm 4 -5.6 lens with a 2x teleconverter. With out the teleconverter the auto focus works fine, but when I add the telconverter and have lens all the extended auto focus will not work. Even opening up the lens, changing the iso, and with plenty of sun light.

Which leaves me manual focus, which I don't mind. I am planning to get the KPS eye pc to help. But also changing the screen from katzeye or focusingscreen.com with the split screens.

I wanted to know would those screens does it effect the auto focusing if I do decide to which back to auto mode. And I read on some post, the screens effects the metering.

Does anyones know how does it effect the metering? Can the pictures be corrected in software like Light Room? or Can I change the setting on the camera to correct the offset metering of the screen. How is the metering effected? does it effect the white balance? color? I am no sure.

If any one have any insight please let me know...

Much Thanks!

Thank for the replies....

I will be taking pictures in the day light.. So, I hope that should work... I know my lens are not the best and sharpest out there... but I am hoping to get any pictures..

So, If my lens is an f4 lens... in theory the auto focus would work?

Hello...

I am new to DSLR world and I have a Kx with a Tarmon 18-200mm and a 70mm-300mm lens. I am looking for a Tele-Converter to enhance the range of these lens. I have searched the forms and didn't come up with the answers I am looking for. I hope someone can share some experiences or answers with me.

Have any one used any one of these companies for a Tele-Converter, Pro-Optic 2XPX or Bower MC7 or MC4?

Does the number of elements means better picture? 4 Elements vs 7 Elements?

If paired with the config I have now a K-x with Tamron 18-200mm or Tamron f4 -5.6 70-300 lens would the AF still work?

Thanks any help would be great.
