Taken at night, I used a 300 lumen LED flashlight to paint the falls and surrounding cliffs. Exposure time was one and a half minutes. The ants were coming out of their colonies, so as soon as this shot was finished, I rushed off this berm before they crawled all over me.

Here is a pic of Pentax's booth at the LVCC. As you can see, it’s located on a second floor in the central hall. If they were going to reveal new gear to selected folks, this would be the place they would do it.

More less a private room with a solid steel door, and windows that look down on the rest of the CES Show. This is at the LVCC. (Las Vegas ConventionCenter)

I showed up at this Pentax booth/room one hour before the show opened to industry professionals. I found the door wide opened and met a very nice lady, who invited me in. There was not much in the room but for red carpeting, and a few comfortable chairs you might find in a living room. She was still busy getting things ready for the start of the show.

The first thing I said was to ask if this is where the K-3 is hiding, inquiring into what was coming out next. (I had also asked at the Pentax booth where you see the pic at the beginning of this thread. One thing is clear, either there is nothing, or they are very tight lipped about it.) In case you are wondering, this was more a meeting room than anything else. I actually wondered why they really even had it, as it was hard to get to, and there was nothing set up at the time I was there.

I am having this exact same problem with my new Patriot LX Series 64GB SHXC card. Previous, I never had any issues with the SDHC cards, including my Patriot LX Series 8GB SDHC card. I am using a K-7, not the K-5, therefore, I am thinking maybe its has something to do with the firmware. Before I did the test, I reformatted the card twice in the camera, just to be sure. I do not know what the solution is.

f/2.8 = Blue Lines K7

Thank you all for your help. I thought CA happened with the longest and shortest wave lengths, there by the red and blue fringe. Since it did not happen in RAW, and only the blue fringe is showing, I figured that it must not be CA. At least I am sure that nothing is failing in my camera.

f/2.8 = Blue Lines K7

I was reading on ken rockwell that small apertures of f/8 and smaller blur the image due to diffraction. I decided to take a few test shots with myK-7. I used a SMC Pentax DA Star 16-50 mm lens. What I found was that with the aperture open to f/2.8, I get blue lines around high contrast parts in the photo.

I took several shots with a tripod, and a remote control, changing only the f-stop, and the corresponding shutter speed. I uploaded the test pictures to my Flickr site, and put it in a set called “Test Shots”. You can view them here.

I am not sure about the diffraction issue as of yet, but I am puzzled on why I get those strong blue lines at the lowest f-stop. On my photos, look around the windows and thero of line of the house. You will need to select “original size” on the size options page. Does anyone have any ideas?

Incidentally, I do not have this problem if I shoot with a RAW file.
