Though I often feel that same way about many things I can't help yanking your chain. :)
D*$# horseless carriages are going to replace the horse and put the buggy whip makers out of business.

Between the pandemic and work related stuff I've been way to busy for a fellar my age. Haven't had much time to capture any images.
Hope to find the time later this month. :)

I own a very old version of PS but for 95% of my images including RAW DNG files I use PS Elements. I have not upgraded Elements from the version 9. I think 13 is current.
I suspect Elements would handle your needs for a long time. And it is a one time purchase not something you rent from the cloud.

Welcome.
I feel the same way most days. The links above are a good start. The first step after auto is probably program mode. That eliminates the camera guessing at what you are shooting and fine tunes the settings just a bit, automating some of the yet unlearned steps.
As [pointed out above at least your mistakes while learning won't cost you a developing fee. In my early days the mistakes were about 50 cents each and I never knew what I had until I got it back. :)

Absolutely breath taking.
Sorry I could not resist the pun but the compliment is real.

I personally prefer the 21mm. It is wide enough to capture a larger area.

The sad fact is that a lot of people feel the need to justify their choices by insulting the choices of others. The truth is there no perfect .
If you are pleased with the choices you made who gives a rat's hind end what anyone else thinks? I don't require the approval of others to be happy in my life.

It is pretty common for squirrels to have a favorite nut and in this case it is Rupert.

Maybe, If you were mean enough to get it in the pot.
There was an image of the actual fossil in the initial article. It does seem to be missing now.

I finally broke down and bought one. You can almost take pictures in the dark.
Let me get caught up and I will try to contribute to this thread.

I prefer the second; better composition, the added color on the second bridge and more prominent main image. They are both very good.

Oops! I forgot to mention that I am pretty sure it is a Cicada which you don't get to see all that often.
The swarms reputedly only happen once every 13- 17 years though a few come out early and late. The last plague I recall was sometime in the 80's.

I suspect you got a standard definition converter. If you are with Crime Warner (TWC) I'm sure you did. They did not convert to help you. They converted to squeeze more bandwidth out of the existing pipes. It processes the old SD signals fairly well. It does not process a true HD signal very well. The major networks are all in HD now so if you are watching through the little magic box some conversion is taking place somewhere.
The only way to get HD Digital with a cable provider is to rent their expensive boxes or buy a TIVO and use a cablecard.
You can get a better picture off the air for FREE with an antenna in most areas of the country.

He is probably dead by now if he confessed.
Edit: I do not mean that as an insult to the sleeping lady. I base that on what my wife would do to me.

This is more of a snapshot that a photo but the critter was leaving the nest as soon as it could get the wings dry. I already had to run in a get the extra battery, There just wasn't time for a lens change. So here is a 100% crop of a one hand snapshot using the K-30 and the 21mm. :)

I think it is most excellent. It is far better than my first attempt and I had an instructor (film days) telling me what to do.

Just FYI, whatever noscript blocked it also blocked the nifty little drop down menus like Forum >mark forums read. When I figured that out, i knew it was on 'my end'.
I never intended to block anything here. You are not one of those greedy webmasters who forces members to view a 1000 ads per post. :)

The problem was on my end.
I use FF and noscript because of some other forums I visit. Some setting must have changed with an update. "Allowing all" on a page here solved the problem.
