It was a rainy day and i took only a few photos - this one turned interesting. The pelican was cleaning itself, and i took a chance when sun suddenly broke through clouds.

You can also try using other modes, and see if that helps. If all of the images turn to be too dark, I would recommend to replace the camera if that option is available. Also, do you use filter while shooting?

I have both Pentax-A 50/1.7 and Horusbennu 50/1.7 and I can say that IQ is very similar, but pentax has better SMC coating. Bokeh is very similar on both lensee. Horusbennu is a nice lens, has a quality metal feel, and fits somewhat tighter on body than pentax, but I was positively suprised with quality when I tried it.
