I see you have posted earlier the kit lens plus 2 filters. Is that an extra set or part of this package.
I'd be interested in the kit plus filters.
Thanks

I'm new DSLR's and have acquired a K100-D and Tamron 70-300 Di.
I wonder what the Pentax official stand is on UV filters. I thought that protection from UV to the lens is one of the consideration. Acting as a first line of defence is added bonus. But the comment about using plastics makes more sense from a physical protection sense.

Thanks Bruce for taking the time....looks like it does pretty good job of getting closer and still sharp. Does the brand of the TC matter a lot? I don't know if Tamron offers one. Also appreciate your adding the 70 mm shot for comparision. I've posted my very first shots. Please do comment when you get a chance.

Hi Tasha
I wanted to get set for my upcoming trip to Kruger National Park in SA. Taking advise from DPR site and this site I just got the K100-D and Tamron Di 70 300 (Di is the latest version for Digital). I'm actively learning the basics.
I also need to get a Sigma 17-70 DC to complete my range for my needs anyway.
I'm fairly new to DSLR having used P&S mainly but took this opportunity to get into this as a hobby.
I'll post some pictures also. I've also asked another forum member to post something using this lens and the 1.4 TC to see if I'd need that to extend my range for birds etc.
After stopping over in SA, we'll be visiting Bombay/Belgaum before returning to USA.

Hi Bramela
Nice pics...how do you find the Tamron with the converter. Can you post a picture at full zoom with the TC.
I just got a K100-D and the Tamron.....also seriously considering the Sigma 17 70 DC for my upcoming 6 day trip to Kruger SA.
I've heard differing views on the TC for wildlife or bird photography. Would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thanks.

I also think that ordering over the phone could lead to more misunderstandings. While ordering online I print the quote and each step of the way for other info before placing the order...in my case of K100D their quote specifically said USA Warranty otherwise I'd not have ordered from them.

Guys
Thanks a lot for all the info on this thread. I just unpacked my K100D from Beachcamera and noted there was the Serial Card but no Warranty Card. My Tamron 70-300 Di from Cameta did have the 6 Year Warranty card.
So now I can rest easy knowing the K100-D does not have to come with a Warranty card.
Also all manufacturer specified parts were there in the box. I was a bit disappointed that the body was in a open loose plastic bag, and the Pentax carton itself was also not sealed with plastic. Tamron also was like that pretty much in open plastic boxes. Somewhat different from a lot of parts I order...Dlink modems etc.
