Now I didn't realise that. Thank you. I'll also look into the charger you mentioned.

K-x Battery Level Indicator - Faulty?

Thank you. Very helpful. I've just checked and it has Firmware 1.0. I've also tried the Lithium batteries that came in the box and they have turned the indicator green. I then re-tried four (matching) sets of N-Mh batteries and only achieved the orange indicator, and one set which had showed orange a few minutes before went straight to red! Not impressed! Finally, I tried a brand new set of normal Alkaline batteries and it would not even turn on. As I've bought the camera to use as my backup to my Nikon D90 (yes, I know I should have bought another Nikon so that I could share the lenses between bodies, but I've always liked Pentax cameras and thought it might be a good excuse to get another one), I've got to be able to trust it. Standing in a field ready to photgraph some guy's car only to find the six sets of betteries don't work could be very embarrassing!

I'll try the Firmware update, as it seems that my experiences are not unknown and report back. I've also ordered from Amazon a set of Extreme N-Mh batteries and I'll investigate the Eneloops as well.

K-x Battery Level Indicator - Faulty?

I've recently purchased a K-x and I'm pleased with the results it can produce. However, I have tried several sets of N-Mh batteries that I've used with no problems in the past, yet even when newly charged, they do not turn the battery level indicator green. Might this be indicative of a fault on the camera? I would have thought that any recently charged set of batteries would show as "green" at first even if they were on the way out and started to discharge quickly after a few shots. Any advice? Thanks.

K-x remote control

Hi! I'm new to this forum having just bought a K-x. I also wanted a remote so that I could do relatively long exposures of models (cars mainly) in Av mode and on a tripod. I found an old Remote Control C Set in my general junk box and after ensuring the battery was working had a go. Once the autofocus function is activated, as explained in an earlier response (Thanks. Very helpful) I've found you can activate the shutter from directly behind the camera, above and below, though only on the right hand side. I suspect that this is because I am working indoors. It seems unlikely to operate as helpfully outside. The IR beam presumably bounces off the ceiling and/or walls. Anyway, it works for me.
