Fair enough, just comparing apples to apples with the camera im using.

And I am doing exactly what you said. I've ordered the 10-20, and Ill carry the 35-70 and the 35/2.4 with me. The 35/2.4 served me really well on my last trip, and my 18-55 hasnt been too bad either.

previous travels - Favorites Slideshow by tommy793 | Photobucket - all shot with either the kit lens or the 35 on my K100D Super. Looking forward to a trip with the K01, hope I dont miss the K100D.

Except the 35-70 is a full frame lens, so its more like a ~50-100 on the K01....

after thinking about it today, i dont think im going to buy a lens. money would be better spent doing things on the trip than taking pictures. I may still rent the 10-20 just for something to play with and experience though, its only $60 for 10 days.

Mostly outdoors, but some interior. I havent used the K01 a lot yet, just picked it up as a sorta replacement to my K100D Super. And yea, love the 35/2.4, used it exclusively on my last vacation and i just got the F35-70, but I like it so far.

Hadnt had much luck in the used department, wish I could but $330 is the best price I can find on a used Tamron 17-50 and I havent seen anything UWA in my price range.

I rarely ever shoot anything long, and dont enjoy shooting long on the K01, so im not concerned there.

Packing for vacation soon and this will really be my first opportunity to use my k-01, but im trying to pack light and not sure what would be better for where Im heading. Im pretty green with photography, so bare with me.

Im heading to London and Paris, so tight spaces to consider. I cant decide if I should rent a 10-20mm or buy a 17-50 f2.8. I know, weird decision. I dont want to buy a 10-20mm, but I think it would be useful on the trip. I do want to buy a 17-50 at some point, but not sure if it'd be satisfying enough on this trip. Cant justify doing both right this moment.

How big/bulky are these 2 lenses? How's the usability on the K-01?

Other lenses i have - Kit 18-55, DA35 f2.4, F35-70. I only really want to carry 2 lenses at a time, so my thought is either the 17-50 + the F35-70, or the 10-20 +18-55.

Pentax-DA 35mm F2.4 AL autofocus not working

if you mean does the rear element move forward and back when i turn the focus ring, then yes.

when i put the lens on the body, if the focus is all the way out, and i point it at something far away, the focus ring will come in about half way then it stops. if i half press the shutter for autofocus, i can hear the motor click, and feel the focus ring twitch, but it does not move in or out. I said the focus ring feels stiff, and what i mean by that is when you turn it, it doesnt feel as fluid as my other lenses. It moves, but not as fluidly/smoothly as say the kit lens. I had read that manual focusing with this lens was difficult, didnt know if that was the reason or if it's something else.

i can see the screw turn if i turn the focusing ring. it seems to spin freely, but i guess whatever controls it in the lens isnt working. was just hoping for a possible somewhat easier/faster solution than returning it, waiting for a refund, then buying another.

I just purchased the 35mm F2.4 AL lens 2nd hand and it appears that the autofocus is not functioning as it should. Camera is a k100D. My other lenses all A/F fine, so was just wondering if there was anything I could check before I return it. I can manual focus it (sorta, it's pretty stiff) and if i turn the focus ring while the lens is off the camera, i do see the AF screw drive pin turning. When I hold the shutter, i do hear it twitch, but that's it.

Greetings.

Just bought a K100D body, and Im looking for my first lens purchase.

I already had a mf 50mm prime and an AF 70-210 lens from my film days, but looking for something to fill the gap.

What would be a better general purpose lens? Not looking to spend a ton, $100 range really as Im not in any way shape or form a pro, or even pretending to be.

And are there any other used camera gear sites other than KEH.com worth looking at? Tried pawn shops around here, but they didnt have any SLR stuff.
