I'm with you - I'd rather nature photography than people. It just seems that my photo's come out better that way.

Yeah, I have been going a little crazy - nearly 600 photos taken since Xmas day :)
Yeah, thankfully JB hifi had the friends and family sale early December, and they had 15% off cameras, and the k-r was already $100 off on special, so $896 came down to $677 :)
Only trouble was since family also put in for some of the cost as my present, I had to sit it under the tree and look at it for over two weeks!!
Thanks to both of you!

G'day all!
Have been lurking around these forums for a few weeks now, and finally getting around to joining up!
Santa (& my credit card) gave me a new black k-r for Christmas this year, along with the 18-55mm lens and a 16Gb Lexar Class 6 SDHC card.
Started digital photography many years ago with a Kodak DX4330 that died after a couple of years. Then I grabbed a Canon S2is, that is still going (albeit with a few minor problems) after taking in excess of 15,000 shots, decided the time & funds & pricing were right to grab my first SLR.
Was originally going to get a k-x, had researched it all, but I got an amazing price (AU$677) for the k-r, so jumped at it.
Now comes the fun part of finding out how to use it to it's maximum! Hope to pop up in more than a few threads on here :)
Later,
Snowman
