I think these were taken with Pentax-A 50mm F1.7
You can see grain coz they were taken with ISO1600... I forgot to change ISO :-P

I had the same problem - dust on the focusing screen.
Removing the focusing screen to clean it is a very easy thing. I was scared to do it for the first time, but now i can do it effortlessly. Just be careful and all will be fine :)
Here's a video showing how it's done in K10D, K-r in this manner is the same thing. You Tube |

It is not as good as indoor but I can't really say it's "unusable".
Ergo, I voted yes.

Some people already tested this 'solution' and said there's no much difference.

No PP. I was testing M 50mm 1.7 in low light. It's a great lens. |

I heard it works great when you decide to remove the hmm "Aperture lever" (?).
I almost decided to do it myself but I made a good deal selling the M lens and I bought myself the A50mm/1.7
You can also drill a hole in the lens and make extra lock hole so it won't fall off. That's actually the more popular solution. The silver ring on the lens is very easy to remove, only 5 screws and it goes off with no effort. You can drill the extra hole through the ring, it doesn't have to look like the original one :)

All K-r's have the same languages in them. It doesn't matter where you buy it, it will have Italian in the menu :)

I think that 1/8, 1/10, 1/30 is simply too fast for traffic.
I don't think it is really possible to capture big traffic blur at 10am, of course it depends on how much blur you want to capture, but if you look at typical pictures with traffic blur you will see that they were taken at night/twilight.
Plus, I see that you were in a car while taking the pic, you you were moving along with cars, I think that also wasn't helping.

So in theory the ISO200 provides better quality than ISO100? :-)

At least we know more now.

Pentax France (the Headquarters in Europe) have assured me several times that Pentax JAPAN is aware of the issue and that they are working on the new firmware. Pentax is not hiding it, write to them and they'll tell you there is an issue.
They wrote to me:
Releasing an official press info about this is a marketing suicide. They wrote about stained K5's because the issue was serious and the only way to repair it was replacing the cameras.
It's true about Apple and the iPad2, but Apple is a much bigger company and they can afford it. They are hiring probably more engineers and obviously their fix will be released faster.
At least this is what I think.

There's is a way to make M lens work in AV mode perfectly:
All you have to do is press the lens lock button and rotate your lens CCW about 10 degrees. Then you can use it in Av mode. Just be careful not to twist the lens focus adjustment so far as to make the lens drop off (mine is hanging on very firm and confident). I also heard you can drill extra lens lock but I didn't try that yet.

Ovim, someone helped me with my 'problem' and now I can use the Pentax-M lens in Av mode with no problem, it works the same as with the KIT lens, it's great!

This really answers my question. I was worried that it is the shutter that moves (it gives different sound than the one when you actually take a picture but I wanted to be sure).
I was concerned that every time I click the Av button to measure the light the shutter goes down and up :) and in consequence the shutter life span shortens.
Thanks for the answer, it calmed me down.

I have bought a Pentax M 50mm 1.7 lens for my K-r.
It is a manual lens and I shoot in M mode (Av doesn't allow changing aperture)
My question is, is it possible to make the camera adjust shutter speed with green button WITHOUT the shutter going down. Just like with the KIT lens?
