I have only manual lenses in any case, back when I used m4/3 Olympus, I had no problem with unexpensive adapters too, here it was more that I needed to understand what I had to look for :)

I saw the same description here on site, in an article about different legacy lenses on Sony A7, but then I saw the novoflex nex/co adapter, that should allow to attach directly a screw mount lens to an e-mount body - if e-mount aps-c and FF is the same thing (is it?).
As I could not find any info on takumars with it, though, I wondered if:
- am I correct at all?
- are there specific reasons as to go with PK-Nex + M42 to K, other than that - maybe - that article is older than the Novoflex adapter?
- are there other more economic options on the Novoflex, admitting that that even is the right adapter?

Hello,
what is a good adapter for M42 screw mount takumars, specifically the SMC Takumar 1:1.4/50 8 elements version and the SMC Takumar 1:1.8/55 for sony FF cameras?
So far I have found online the Novoflex at about 100 € and a bunch of others, but not all their description are clear about required or not required modification concerning the fitting of the lens' rear pin, if any or no filing is required on the adapters.
Any suggestion?
Also, I have a C/Y planar too, is it more economic, to buy a c/Y to A-mount adapter or adapt both M42 and C/Y to some other adapter, like Pentax K and from there to the camera?
I'm a bit puzzled at the moment.

I'm setting aside money to buy the X-E1, but I would be able to get the body only version, and therefore I would use legacy lenses at all time.
I have some Takumar and other m42 lenses and a Planar with C/Y mount.
So, I want to purchase an adapter and I think Roxsen or Kipon, but I'm puzzled as to the difference in price (one the double of the other) for seemingly alike copies of them on their ebay store; and by the warning they are compatible with X-Pro only.
Are the ones compatible with X-Pro also compatible with X-E1?
Also, i read that some adapter pushes the pin to open wide the diaphragm so that it stays open wide at all time: is this something actually happening with Takumars?

Yeah, I saw some m42 too that I could use for slides scanning too, but with those, to photography flat horizontal stuff it gets a bit difficult without a dedicate vertical tripod (with my normal tripod it was already difficult to have the minimum focal distance with a 50mm)... But that's far away yet, my first step is to save enough for either a K30 or an X-E1 body.

Yeah, I've used the Taks, a 50 and a SMC 55, (and a good, not great Soligor 28 in some case) along with a tripod and timed release for all the works on site and catalog, but I think the limits of the m4/3 sensor were what they were.
I know that a 16MP APS-C will not change from night to day the situation, but for sure will be an improvement there, considered the budget.
John do you mean that macro lenses for non macro use have more resolving power than other regular lenses of the same focal length?
Forgive me if the question has no sense, as I've a limited knowledge of optics terminology and logic.

Thank you both for the insight and thank you for the appreciation;
To answer John about the purpose of these photos, at the moment I just would like to print for personal documentation a large, say, around 14 inches of width, catalog, to use for reference and for presentation to gallery curators.
I've printed one with Blurb, but while the actual printing was good, the pictures as you noted for even APSC could not show the detail that was not captured.
I value your advice about eventually pay for professional photo services, but since I do need to buy a camera anyway and at the time the K30 is everything I could afford, for the time being I'll stick with that,
Probably my confusion there comes simply by the fact that when I look at the various samples from K30 and Xpro1 or X-E1, while I see a vibrancy that's great for nature shots in the in the former, I see a sharpness and cleanliness that i treasure in the latters.
However, thank you for your answers, I'm a bit more clear now!

I've stumbled on this thread on flickr where is discussed a possible workflow for Fujifilm X series of cameras that, cause of the non bayer pattern on their sensor photo diodes, have some problem with the processing of their RAW images out of camera.
Basically, to avoid some kind of color artifacts and bleeding a black and white out of camera JPG gets pasted on the color RAW file' brightness channel once it has been converted to lab color mode in Photoshop.
Judging by the pictures posted there, there's some gain in contrast and definition too.
My question is: that kind of process, when used on a normal bayer patterned sensor, specifically, say on the Pentax K30 / K-01 ones, does have any gain of definition? Or there's no difference in the results by manipulating simply the RAW file in lightroom, tweaking contrast and clearity?
You see, I'm not a pixel peeper maniac, but aside personal leisure, I use the camera for painting documentation and for scanning drawings, and my recent works there are both large in size and full of tiny not contrasty stuff inside them.
The pictures I got of my old m4/3 camera of these works get too noisy even with low iso, and it gets difficult understood them without enlargements I'm not keen of shot, because they distract.
Example here, all images there shot with a Takumar 50mm, stopped down and postprocessed to become simile to what you could see from life. But still much stuff gets lost.
So, I sold my m4/3 and I plan on buy a mid level APSC camera, and I'm debated between the K-30, that's more on my budget and I like for its OVFand the Fujifilm X-E1.
The examples I could see and the comparisons on definition and low noise on dpreview put the K-30 sensor, at least for this particular area, definition at low ISO, not far from my old Olympus E-P1.
Therefore, my interest in the different kind of post process I linked here above to attain a better result there.
So, what do you think?

Regarding the 16-50mm, I fail to see how any product may have a price tag but, yes, also twice that price tag depending on which day of the week it is. Or maybe based on some kind of lottery.

I don't think the scratches and dust are disturbing, I quite like them.
The only fault that I could notice about the scan is that horizontal line in the impalas shot. But that too is something I can live with.

I've retrived a couple of rolls of Ferrania 100 from the lab.
I love this particular film, it is very forgiving and it has lush colors.
But I've also had many problems with it, when the metering for contrasted scenes tricked me to underexpose, with the result that I ruined many shots. :(
I find that I can salvage much of the highlights, so that a sky that looked white after the scan was instead fully captured with its correct tones! But instead the dark areas are almost always pitch black.
This, with the fact that the metering of my spotmatic tends to be off when measuring a scene with a back lighted figure, is something I have to remember for the future.
Two really nice surprises to me were instead the two night pictures I got with the Xmas light in the street: those were done free hand at 1.4 of aperture, and with short exposure times, but still I expexted them to be either completely dark or very blurred, they were spot on (to me, at least) with no pp except for a lens vertical correction in the first night shot . :)
So some pictures from a winter trip to Torino.
They're all Spotmatic F, Super Takumar 1:1.4/50 - 8 elements, with the same roll of Ferrania 100.
A crop. I love the grain, the Sixties feeling.

I'm starting to save for this one, since I don't think I will be able to afford one of the future above tiers, and I still have to buy a M42/K mount converter and a case.
There's a couple of improvements I would have liked for sure, most of all more resolution, because, while 16MP are perfect for a general purpose, life shooting camera, in shooting painting surfaces as I do often, the resolution helps.
Also, an external mic would have been great for the odd concert shooting, but, boy, this K30 looks really exciting.
I think that it's a great move for Pentax.
Now, I have some months ahead to figure: white or blue?

well 170,000 Lire of 1974, in 2012, depending on how you calculate, range between about 1050 € (using a revaluation table) and 1.500 € making a proportion with, for instance, a Topolino (Micky Mouse) weekly magazine, wich cover price in the same months was 250 Lire.
I would say that the SPII + 1:1.4/50 would be somewhere in between there.
The SP 500 + 1:2/50 is somewhere between 670 € and about 1.100 €.
I really wouldn't know which amount is more correct, because anyway the euro value has taken bumps since the start, so possibly you needed less money than today to buy the same range of cameras?

Still, if the DSLR in the K-r class is far away, and it will probably have the same sensor of the K-1, if indeed at CP+ there will be a new DSLR, it should be either a very cheap one or a K-5 replacement then.
mmm...
In the latter case, to me at least, it would be nice if the body would be at least have been redesigned along the lines of the K-01 minus the chimney.
[edit] I'm thinking a digital Pentax MX...
