Or you could install the last version of DCU directly without the original CD - by making a silent Installation - in Windos:

1. Mount the iso-file by the free software WinCDEmu mounter or a similar program. (Or you could burn the iso-file to a CD).
2. Don't use Autorun but by Explorer navigate to the BIN folder inside the iso-file (or CD)
3. Type in "cmd" in the address bar (+enter) or Shift+right click the BIN folder and select "Open Command Prompt here"...
4. Run either the 32 or 64 version of the installation in silent mode by this command:
>setupXX.exe /s
(Replace XX with the correct number and press ENTER.)

And you will make a default installation of DCU5 - without a correct named thumb drive or the original CD.

I have been using 16GB Transend class 10 (45 MB 300x) card purchased in Hong Kong 3 years ago in my K10d. Firmware 1.31. Never any problem. This last FW updates a number of years ago was the key.... (support and less problems with the SDHC standard - up to 32 GB )

At the same time; for FW updates I think 4 GB is max. Because of that you should keep a few of the good old 2-4 GB's...

5 (outdated) Reasons to choose Pentax

At the middle of the summer 1981 I purchased a brand new Pentax ME Super. This was the five major reasons:

1. A window next to the winder arm to control film movement.
(Assists the user in rewinding film into the cassette without losing the tip of the film).

2. Shutter speeds are selected with up and down buttons rather than the outdated wheel.

3. The shutter speed is displayed in the finder.

4. In the event of battery failure, the camera can continue to operate at a shutter speed of 1/125 of a second.

5. Seperate manual mode in addition to AUTO.

If you still want to install DCU then try to make a silent Installation:

1. Mount the iso-file by the free software WinCDEmu mounter (or a similar program). Disable autorun:

.

2. By Explorer navigate to the BIN folder (inside the iso-file)
3. Type in "cmd" in the address bar (+enter) or Shift+right click the BIN folder and select "Open Command Prompt here"...
4. Run either the 32 or 64 version of the installation in silent mode by this command:
>setupXX.exe /s /LANG="en"
(Replace XX with the correct number and press ENTER.)

And you will make a default installation of DCU5 - without a correct named thumb drive or CD.
The two parameters tell windows to make a Silent Installation and select english.

Many install files will just ignore the language parameter. In such case try to download DCU5 once again.
In english. The two zip-files share the same name, DCU5Updater_572(Win).zip
English: Digital Camera Utility 5 Update for Windows : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING
Japanese: Digital Camera Utility 5 Update for Windows: Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING

Adam and Steve!
Perhaps we should try to "get inside". Ricoh Imaging Products (Philippines) Corporation (RIMP) apply for a Programmer for their main factory in Lapu Lapu City, Philippines. PENTAX/ RICOH is located in MPEZ-1 (no 117-8 on the list) - in the northern end of the city.

Perhaps we should share the costs and send one of us to India, look for a programmer to apply for the job. As our representative! Then he/she could take care of our preferences. Make the menu exactly in the way we want it. New FW for K5, tethering, SW ... ...

Steve, then we could chat directly! Just read what they are looking for: ...."Develop and maintain applications by evaluating client needs... Identify requirements by establishing personal rapport with clients"........

Frankly speaking, this will make mutual benefits! Users of Pentax Forums, Ricoh Philippines and all other future owners!

Work Location. "Plant established in Sept 2011". In such case this building is home address for K5, K3, K1...

Free Parking and Uniform provided by the Company...!
With Pentax or Ricoh logo?

An easier way to do it by Windows; make a silent Installation:

2. By Explorer navigate to the BIN folder (in the iso-file)
3. Type in "cmd" in the address bar (+enter) or Shift+right click the BIN folder and select "Open Command Prompt here"...

Are you aware of the Open Source software dispcalGUI Display Calibration combined with Argyll CMS (1.0 or newer)? With Datacolor Spyder 2-5 as colorimeters. A GUI alternative it seems like many are satisfied with. Among them a (Canon) friend of me. Requirements . I've not had time to try it myself.

What about these...
Taken in Kenya, Lake Baringo two years ago by a Tamron 18-250.
The 2nd is 250 mm, 1/400, F 7.1.
The 3rd is a colourful girl from Lake Turkana. All handheld.

Last year I purchased a K5, but I prefer the good old K10d for my many journeys to Africa, Asia etc etc. Reason; the colours!
