I have been looking at the Sigma 50-500 APO zoom lens to purchase. I contacted Sigma and asked if this lens would fit and work with my K-x and K-500 bodies. They sent back to me that this lens is out of production and they could not guarantee it would work with my cameras! Thought it was odd that they couldn't even tell me yes or no. Does anyone out there know if it is compatible with my cameras. Or could anyone make a suggestion on another comparable lens.

thanks to all for the info. A lot to sift thru. I think I will look for a longer prime lens to use, and stay away from the teleconverter if I can. Along with my 300 zoom I should do ok for a while.

I have a Pentax K-x digital. Pentax lenses 18-55, 50-200, and a Sigma 70-300. I need a longer lens for some nature/wildlife shots but am not able to get a 400 or 500mm. I was thinking of a 2x converter. how well do they work, do they really double the focal length ? Is there any problems with picture quality, auto focus, compatibility, etc.? Thanks for any info or suggestions.

Ha! yes the cap was off.. I could still take picks. but I did not know that meant seconds of exposure. so that would make sense, because I was in a dimly lit room. so thanks very much. I hate it when I can't figure stuff out.

I have a Pentax K-x. I turned it on today and noticed the shutter speed box in the monitor is flashing and shows things like .6" and 1.5" or 3", not the shutter speed. Along with this the aperture box and ISO are flashing. this has never happened before.It does not matter what picture mode or lens I change to. any ideas? Did I change a setting somewhere?
