Hello all,
I am jumping back into photography head first after about 8 years and there have been some changes. I have the K5 II DSLR and a couple of kit lenses. I really want to jump to the HD Pentax-DA* 16-50mm F2.8 ED PLM AW because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The problem seems to be there is a compatability issue with the camera and lense. Would a firmware update fix this issue or am I doomed to but a better camera? If so, is there an alternative lense out there that would be compatable? Looking for a professional lense for landscapes.
Thanks! Justin

Does anyone out there know if my k-5 II is compatible with the Yongnuo YN-560 II speedflash? The one I'm looking at on amazon is advertised for Canon and Nikon but does it really mean for those specific camera brands or is that just how they are marketing them?
thanks

I know if I had the money,of course the k-5 iis but I'm on a budget and lucky enough to be getting a new one.
Here's The shake down. I'm going to be getting into portraits and weddings pretty heavy and I want a camera that is going to deliver great pictures in all cases. If I get just the K-5 will it be sufficient enough or am I missing out on some much needed features that the 5 II or 5 IIs can deliver. Are the extra features ABSOLUTELY necessary?
Thanks a lot folks. Very appreciated. This forum is full of great people.

I took these photos last fall in September in the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York. We try and make the trip every year. There's a campsite about 45 minutes away from the summit of Mt. Colden so it's a prime spot to wait for the sunset and hike down to camp with headlamps. Quite an adventure that everyone should experience at least once in there lives.
I wish the photos did the experience justice.

It's a bit out of my knowledge on where you order these prints from. I know they have a special paper and the fancy writing on them. ha. Any suggestions where to order these from? Sorry for being so ignorant.
As always, Thanks

Hey all.
I currently have the K100D and I want to get into portrait and wedding photography. I think I'm going to upgrade my lens to a 70mm f2.4 DA Limited (anyone appose this decision)?
If I were to upgrade this lens, would it be worth keeping the K100D for this lens or is an upgrade absolutely necessary to use it? In other words, I know the K100D has it's limitations as far as shutter speed and such. Will having a lens with a f2.4 make a drastic difference with this camera. (I currently have the kit lens DA 3.5-5.6 18mm-55mm). Is the K100D a "joke" for portrait photography even with a good lens?
If an upgrade is recommended, which camera would you suggest (not the most expensive please :) ). I've heard the K5 had problems. Have they been resolved sense?
I've done some research and searched the boards but it can get VERY confusing when you have hundreds of opinions pointing their fingers at different items. I'm really just looking for a camera and a lens that are compatible with each other for portraits and weddings without completely breaking the bank.
Thank you very much for the read and help! much appreciated. :)

Anyone have any suggestions about which brand/model of CRT monitors they would recommend for editing photos? I'm sticking with the CRT's because of the price of getting an expensive LCD. Mine Died so I figured if I'm getting a new one I'll ask my buds on the forums. thanks all

hello everyone.
I have the K100D with the kit lens that came with it. I'm looking for a great lens for landscape photography that will make my images better. Any suggestions on what i should look at or what other people own. As far as pricing, it's not a major concern. I just looking at what I should get as if I were going to shoot professionally.
thanks

Hey all,
I've done one other wedding in my life and it turned out pretty well. The couple was pleased with the results. I'm due to do another wedding this september. What do you folks recomend I charge them for the day....not including the cost of prints. I know it's a tough call since I have nothing to show you, but humor me.

Hey all, I've been spending some time today cleaning my camera and lenses because they were a bit dirty. After cleaning the camera, I look through the viewfinder and notice a hair that I just can't get off!!!!!!! It doesn't seem to be on the mirror and I've cleaned the viewfinder part inside the camera. It seems like it's on the inside of the viewfinder now and I have no idea how it got there. Of coarse I'm looking through the viewfinder with no lens.
This mysterious piece of hair wasn't there before i cleaned the camera.....go figure huh.
Bummer....thanks

To start things off, Im using K100D with Pentax DA50-200mm.
Well....I really wanted to freeze everything pretty well in the frame and I did, but the grain in the shots was a little more than what I hoped for. The only way I could achieve this is by setting the shutter speed to 500 and the Aperture to 4.5 while the camera was set on ISO 3200! And even then it was a hair to dark.
I really wanted to set the camera to around ISO 800 but no matter what I did I couldn't juggle everything to get the results. It was a very well lit rink so I would have thought that achieving an ISO of 800 would have been doable while freezing the action. Any suggestions?!?!
P.S. - I tried the action setting also but they came out to dark.

AFTER PP
thank you, justin

I know what you mean about getting it brighter but I actually like the darkness. It almost gives it a mysterious feeling if that makes sense.

I was bored this weekend and decided to go adventuring. I wanted to try out a little B&W PP and see how it went. My hands don't fair well in the cold so it was a short day.:)
