@Hypercube
Trying it now, thank you for the tip. Even with the brilliant support of some of the other members I still had had no success, but this is a new approach I hadn't yet tried, thank you.

I'm very very new to Linux, but I have a laptop running Ubuntu, and I have no idea how to install pktriggercord! I've downloaded the source, read what I can on it, and and the moment I'm staring at the screen in confusion.
And I'm well aware that I'm likely being an utter moron ;) Can anyone help out the intellectually challenged please?

Thanks. Haha yeah, I just need to improve the background though, to get that real advert feel though!

All I can say is wow to that set, and the descriptions that go with them!

My first attempt at capturing a splash. I saw the technique in Digital Photo magazine this month, and figured I'd give it a try!
Taken at 1/160 at f/8 with an off camera flash, and because I'm using a normal flat sheet as the background, the lower part of the image had to be desaturated so the wood wasn't showing through.

The first wasn't actually intended to look like this, that came about in post, after I flipped it the wrong way. Only editing done is to remove some stray wisps of smoke, and to adjust the colour and brightness.
Second one was actually my first attempt, and the only editing done was dust removal and colour editing.

Thank you! I've been really hesitant to post a lot of my stuff on here, because I see a lot of amazing photos taken by other members, but this one I was just really proud of!

Cheers, and I very much agree! My granddad helped me develop a passion for reading when I was quite young, and reading a story from a screen never feels quite right to me, but I've been e-reading more lately as I've had to start travelling more.

Fantastic shots there. I especially like the shallow depth of field on some of them.

My latest photo. I've been wanting to do a bit of black and white work lately, and a challenge on another site gave me the opportunity to do a new still life!

Hmm, that's some decent insight... though they're a college band so their spending capacity is probably not too high... around £160 has been suggested to me, but as I have no formal training and this is as much to get my name out there as anything, I was thinking closer to £70-80... Maybe I should just get a business manager ;)

Ok, so I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I've been offered my first paid gig in April. I've done some photography for this guy over the last year, all for free just for the experience, and he's asked me to help him out with a photoshoot for his band.
We've already had some talks, and we seem to be on the same page for what he wants, but he sent me a message asking how much I'd charge for a day's shooting, and I have NO idea!

It is exactly that :P The comic book store I went to (very very famous one) has all sorts of things like this :D
And yeah, I wanted to add more light, but I was sick with the stupid cold/flu bug at the time, or rather, only JUST getting over it, so I was trying not to shiver... hence the fast-ish shutter.

Thank you. I don't know what the protocol is regarding links to deviant art images or redbubble (I did put links to my galleries in my sig, hope that's ok!) But I have larger versions on those if it's ok for me to post it?

I don't know why, but I love seeing graffiti photography, especially when several sets are almost "competing"

Taken during the first of the light snow in the winter. Using a sweetie tin I got from a comic book store in London, I decided to try and make my own xmas card. Sadly the hardware ended up letting me down, but the photo came out well I think!
I used Luminance HDR to tonemap it from a single exposure, to try and bring out some of the reflections on the mushroom cap.

Taken from my back window, I hardly had to do anything to make this look decent! I've never quite seen a sky like this before or since at home, so I had to capture it. All I did was darken the trees and building, increase the contrast very slightly, and there it was.

The first photo I took that I was truly proud of. A random lamppost in Brighton that caught my eye on a day out with a friend.

I've been a K-m user since I got mine around easter last year, and have been playing about with it. I JUST started to try and get serious though, entering competitions on RedBubble, trying to sell my work there and elsewhere, and figured I'd come and see what the community is like with other pentax users.
