Yes, the Nikon AW1 is a consideration for a all weather camera over the P&S all weather cameras. It has a larger sensor, and can change lenses. Still a little difficult to use outside of all automatic mode. Plus now hotshoe and the lens is slow.

Looks like Pentax/Ricoh got confused on dates. I saw one om the Ricoh site for the K-3 that mentioned Monday, Sept 8th, So is it Monday or is it Spet 8th. Without DPR andAdam on this site with an official statement it looks like it will be Tuesday, Sept. 8th for the official press release.

The Pentax Rep was at the local camera store was was excited about the new dslr camera that should be announce in the first two weeks of October. It is suppose to be a very high-end cropped sensor camera.

Wow!! Finally the TC and something from Pentax that I wanted to buy. It has been a long time since the K-5 and the DA15 Ltd that Pentax has came out with something that I wanted to buy and could afford. Yes, I do want the DA560 but can not afford it.

I do agree with this statement. My K-5 is good enough and I will wait until there is built-in wifi and connectivity to a mobil OS. Hopefully it will be the next camera, but knowing Pentax it will be a year or two away. We have to get the through the Eye-Fi versions first.

Panasonic since the GH3 release last year has all there new cameras having WIFI. So they got it. Olympus is camping out with the E-P5 with WIFI so it looks like they are going to get it.

Very true. Still don't have the specs or photos for the K-500 wit less than a day to go. A very leak proof organization. Is it going to be all three cameras announce tomorrow or are the announcements going to be spread out over a few weeks? What about te lenses? We are already in the 6th month and there are several lenses in the lens roadmap that are suppose to be release this year. Just maybe we will see one of these lenses along with the camera(s) announcement(s).

The Q7 does look really nice. I know several people that have the original Q and they all love the camera. If there is a new high-end normal kit zoom like the patent from a few months ago it will be really nice. It seems like it is just missing built-in wifi. If it had built-in wifi I would finally stop using my smartphone to take photos that I want to post on Facebook. Without built-in wifi I just don't see myself buying the camera. Maybe next year when the Q5 is released.

A friend of mine asisted her husband who was taking photos for Sports Illustrated of the NCAA basketball games. Her job was to take memory cards from her husband camera and upload them to SI site for the SI editors to use. With built-in WIFI he could have sent them directly from the camera to the SI editors.
So there is a need for some photographers to have built-in WIFI. The reasons could be the following:
1. Uploading to a social media site for everyone to view
2. Uploading to the editor's site for him to use
3. Uploading to your own site for your own personal off-site backup
4. Quick review of the photo on a large screen tablet.
5. With the proper app you can totally control the camera remotely from your smartphone or tablet. So you can mount the camera on a long pole and take overhead shots and be able to zoom, focus and all other controls directly on your handheld smartphone. So far the Panasonic camera like the GH3 is the best for this type of use.
Anyhow, there are numerous uses for built-in wifi and I can see it becoming a standard feature in cameras.

I don't need the movie mode but having it does get me a good liveview for macro work. Also the processor in the camera is better to handle movies so it makes the camera better for stills.
Anyhow, wifi in cameras is going to be a standard feature, You can use it or not it is your choice. In your case if you are traveling I can see you going into a cafe with wifi and upload your photos to Flickr for a backup to the memory cards. It will save you from having to travel with a laptop and USB cable.

Nothing wrong with the SD card, but wifi connectivity is still needed. To reduce power drain the wifi can be turned off most of the time and just turn it on when you want wifi connectivity. GBs of photos can be uploaded to a cloud storage and manage there with an smartphone/tablet app. The main use of wifi on a camera is to upload to Facebook or equivalent social media.
The Q with wifi would be really nice for a social media camera. The image quality is better than a smartphone. The ergonomics is better. It is small enough to be pocketable. So when you want to take a photo for social medias just pull out the Q and take the photo. Transfer the image to your smartphone by wifi and then on to the social media site by G4 on the phone.

I also totally agree with this. It seems like Pentax/Ricoh is late to the built-in wifi trend. I would love the Q7 if it could integrate with my smartphone and/or tablet.

Several photographer friends have the original Q and they are getting excellent image quality form it and they claim it is a fun camera. I am assuming with the slightyly larger sensor that the image quality will be even better. Still has to compete against the advance P&S cameras like the Canon G-series types of cameras. It appears that this type of camera just might start to go with even larger sensors if rumors are right. So it will be interesting to see how the Q sells. I do wish it will have built-in wfi.
Atleast we are starting to see new cameras out of Pentax since being purchase by Ricoh.

Thanks for the link. It was very interesting.
A Pentax Rep was at my local camera store a week or two ago. My local camera store stopped selling Pentax dslr cameras a few years ago. I believe it was when Pentax started the unreasonable for the store mininium yearly sales limit. Anyhow the Pentax Rep had a white K30 with him and the salesmen loved the camera. So just maybe I will be able to buy Pentax dslr cameras at my local camera store in the future.

I will start buying the new high-end lenses made for a modern FF Pentax camera. I will be using it on one of my K-5 bodies or if I like like I see then the aps-c K-3 body. Then after getting the lenses and saving a bunch of money I will get a FF Pentax but it will be a while.

I don't see a FF being released until late this year or early next year. For this year I see the line-up being 4 aps-c cameras consisting of K300, K30, K5ii/s and K3/s. The prices being $500, $750, $1,100 and $1,600 or there about. So the K5ii is not being replaced, it is just not going to be the flagship model any longer.

Great new that Sigma is releasing one of their new ART lenses in the K-mount!! I have the FA31 Ltd so I will most likely not be interested in it. Still great K-mount news!!

I will most likely get the 12-28/4.0 lens if Pentax really gets it out and if it is weather-sealed. The Limited zoom is one that interest me but will have to wait and see how it performs. The 17-85 or whatever it ends up being is also very interesting. I really want the 135-400 or whatever it ends up being, especially if it is at least a f5.6 or better lens. Still there is not much new on anything coming out from Pentax/Ricoh excpet for we are thinking abut things and wait a little bit and you will be excited about the new things, whatever they end up being.

Same with me. I have had the following: *stDS, K10, K20, K7 and now a K5. I haven't seen a need to upgrade to the K5ii. I will most likely get the K3.

My understanding is that Sony is going to have a new version coming out soon that is going to be going in the NEX7 replacement. Most likely the K-3 will get the new version.

I totally agree. I have two K-5 classic and I did like the improve low-light AF but just not enough to even consider upgrading. When the K-01 came out I decided to get the Olympus E-M5 for my small mirrorless camera system. The K-01 just never interest me.

The line-up I see for this year is:
1. K-3 and K-3s that will be a pro-level dslr with 24 MP aps-c sensor, more than 11 AF points, maybe with hydbrid (optical/digital) viewfinder, wifi, built-in gps and a very powerful processor and large buffer. (price just above $1,500)
2. K-5ii and K-5iis continues as the advance enthusiast camera. (price just above $1,000)
3. K-30ii with 20MP sensor nd maybe the AF from the K-5ii for the basic enthusiast camera (Price around $750)
4. K-300 with the 16MP sensor and more basic stuff maybe even an EVF instead of optical if it brings the price down for an entry-level camera. (price just below $500)
Then next year two FF cameras based on the K5 (entry level FF) and the other based on the K3 (advance FF).
For the K-3 to replace the K-5 this soon as the flagship model it should have a few more high-tech stuff. I will think giving the interview at CP+ were Pentax stated that they will be coming out with a industry leading AF system that an new AF is a given. Hopefuly the new version of the Sony 24MP sensor is an improvement over the 16MP sensor. Still is a new AF system and a new sensor enough. I guess we will find out in a few weeks.
So hopefully it will be some exciting times head. Then again April 1st is coming around again. :-)

Even when the K3 is announced Pentax will still state that the K5ii/s is continuing in the line-up. They have done this with nearly every camera for over a decade.

The D400 will be price above the budget FF D600. It will be better built with more processing power.
