One final note on BuyDig.com - in the latest issue of Consumer Reports they had a review of online electronics resellers and BuyDig received high marks all the way across line rated issues. They were ranked fourth or fifth from a list of about 15 to 20 stores.

PICKING A CAMERA TO SHOT INFRARED
Read this tip in a photo magazine and it helped me choose my Nikon 8400 (didn't want to modify my DSLR) for IR photography. One way to test a camera to see if it is capable of shooting infrared is to aim the lens at a dark part of a room or any area where the iris is forced to open up due to low light. Set the camera to Black and White shooting mode if it has one. Hold a TV remote (must be the type that uses an infrared emitter) in front of the camera and aimed it at the lens. Now do one of the following: depending on the camera your testing either take a picture or look at the LCD viewer on the back while you press any button on the TV remote (like volume). If you see a little white spot in the picture or on the LCD viewer this means the camera is "seeing" the glowing IR emitter on the TV remote, this tells you that there's a high probability this camera will shot IR.

When I decided to buy my K10D I researched prices on the net and then went to a "local hometown dealer" here in Portland Oregon, Pro Photo Supply, and asked them how close they could get to the mail order web prices - they came within about $70 of the best net price.
I bought local and saved. Local dealers have to set their prices based on how much overhead they must generate each month for lease payments (I own leased commercial real-estate), employees health plans, etc. Unless they want to build a reputation to stay competitive, like Pro Photo did, they will try and hold the line on high retail prices.
I have bought many Nikon and Pentax lens and other photo accessories from B&H Photo and never had any problems with the orders or credit cards... in fact they have been very easy to work with on the couple of mistakes made on orders. I recall that a lens hood was left out of an order and they quickly shipped out a replacement. I have also made some minor purchases form Adorama and had no problems. BTW - a good place to buy software is at Amazon.com - many brand name upgrades can be bought there at less than from the original vendor and with no shipping fees (you will have to wait a little longer to get your stuff).

I also wear glasses and bought the item listed below and it really helps, found it at B&H Photo for about $35.
From Pentax.com...
"Viewfinder Loupe 0-ME53 - With the Viewfinder Loupe attached, the finest details will grab your attention. The 1.2x magnification facilitates the assessment of fine details more accurately. This is ideal for critical focusing (e.g. macro photography), and when using manual focus lenses. "

Thanks Morgan... that's what I suspected but I had not read any detailed explanation in any of the photo magazines I get or on a site like this.

I have been using my K10D for a few months and tried both the PEF and DNG formats and really can't see much difference except the file sizes. Does anyone here know what the difference is between these RAW formats?
