As far as I can remember, I haven't seen any pentax in my life. The first one I am going to see is the one arriving home next week, the Pentax K30.
I only see the canon straps everywhere (and sometimes I can spot a Nikon one)

A few years ago I sold an item that I listed for US only. However someone sent me a PM asking if I could ship it to Australia and he'll pay however much the shipping was, I kindly said yes. Sometimes you just have to send them a PM and chances are they might do it.

I haven't any A50's but I've the M/1.7, M/2 and FA/1.4. I just inspected their bases. Each base has the same-size throat; I expect that your A/1.4 and A/2 are about the same. Implanting the A/2's lever mechanism into the A/1.4 thus should be do-able. But an A/2 has some value. You might look for a much less valuable M/2 as the mechanism donor, while keeping the base of your A/1.4. Good luck!
But you're not bitter.

The only punishment fit for this sort of crime is for the perpetrator to be hanged, drawn and quartered. That is he should be hanged almost to the point of death. Then emasculated, disemboweled, beheaded, and quartered. The pieces that are left should then be displayed outside stores that sell Canon gear.

At my local camera club membership is about 150. Mostly Canon and Nikon naturally. Next is Sony maybe a dozen. Olympus maybe 5 and about 3 Pentax. The other two don't have much invested in equipment other than body and a lens so they may switch when it comes time to upgrade who knows. Don't really care if I'm the only one left, I'm not one to follow the herd. A lot of people buying a DSLR will buy what the salesman is pushing or what their friends have. When I bought my first DSLR ( the K10) I researched long and hard and chose Pentax after having had Minolta and Nikon SLR's. I'm happy with what I have in fact I take a little perverse pride in having a Pentax in a sea of Canikons.
