yes the quaity setting makes sense.. thank you.
anyway on a similar note.. there's a feature on 645z's HDR mode that allows you to save the 3 image captures into one RAW pef file as long as you don't set the output to Raw+.. you can set HDR mode either to RAW or jpeg.. and in addition if you set it to jpeg from HDR mode the 645z can create a RAW file on the fly, if you choose to after shooting a frame, which is so cool.. it's called RAW (HDR).. anyway i'm bringing this up because a RAW(HDR) file is very huge -- it can be up to 200mb large and will eat up so much space.. that's why this jpg thing is kinda exciting for me.. so i lose some data from the conversion but I'm stil able to change color modes, etc. which I thought I couldn't do with jpegs..

Adam you can edit a 645z jpg with Pentax's desktop software and have all the features available to you.. it doesn't only apply to raw files.

so everytime you edit and save a jpeg, the jpeg gets compressed again? i understand from raw to jpeg it will get compressed and lose some data, but jpeg to jpeg?

I just noticed that I can process 645z's in-camera jpgs exactly like raw pef files in Pentax Digital Camera Utility software.. all the tools for raw can be used for jpg's like changing color modes, exposure, white-balance, etc. Also means I can tweak 645z's HDR jpg's just like a raw file, which is huge especially since I use this feature alot.. just got me thinking why I would want to keep a raw fie around? anyone else curious about that?

i laid the 645z on a ledge and it was 3 second exposure.. i've seen other people use tripods/monopods and had no problem with them taking shots.

the 645Z viewfinder (stock) is brighter than the 645D and easier to do manual focus as Royce said..

hi isaacimage.. i have the FA 75 but only use manual focus on this lens. The new 90/2.8 is a nice lens but it's heavy and it's kinda long with the hood so carrying it around for snapshots can be a little intimidating. I prefer the 75/2.8 over the new 90/2.8. Honestly I think the 90/2.8 is overpriced and you can get similar shots with the 75/2.8 and 120/f4 for much much less.

thanks guys.. yes it's hard work to document these things.. it requires full time resource. I am blown away by the Z and how much more usable the camera is that i plan to blog about it every week..yes the D is no slouch but it is looking a little old compared to the Z.. but the kodak ccd sensor does give natural results that would be a hard thing to let go off.
btw i did "First Look" blog post here.. First look at Pentax 645z | AL CARLAY |

I own both cameras and have owned the 645d since 2011 and I have close to a month of experience with the Z. Now that I've settled down with the Z i decided to do a writeup between the D and the Z. Here you can read on blogpost and let me know what you think. Comparing Pentax 645D and 645Z – Part I | AL CARLAY |

i've tried it and compared it at iso 200.. they both look the same! same color, same contrast, same everything.. the only difference is that the 645Z has more dynamic range.. so in high contrast situations where the 645D would blow out highlights and lose color information ,the Z would retain about 1 or 2 stops more of color.. i really thought i would see some difference between the two but surprise that Pentax was able to more of less keep the "look" the same between two cameras..
