My da 16-50mm will not focus. I tried this fix it did not work for me but my work for others.

The k3 suits me just fine although I am thinking of buying the k3II for backup as far as the full frame goes I might buy a new lens but the APSC format works good enough for me.

The answer is easy The Pentax 640Z is a MEDIUM Format camera = bigger sensor.

I still have my KX Its the little camera that just wont die. Get a k3 you will not regret it.

I have never had a problem with that lens, but my 16-50 sometimes refuses to focus. Try cleaning the contacts on the lens using a soft pencil eraser this works for my 16-50mm.

I do not use manual focus lenses on my DSLR simply because I have a hard time focusing with them due to the smaller viewfinders. I still shoot with my MX film camera and with its brighter viewfinder its just natural and very easy to focus. There is nothing wrong with the older lenses some are in fact fantastic.

Just received my pentax 60-250mm f4 lens brilliant coupled it to my tamron teleconverter just amazing , I love it. camera shake is a problem, I need a better tripod.

I have been out with my new k-5II and the 18-135 lens i like the lens quite a bit so i will be keeping it. and the k-5II is great
low light focusing is fast.

Recieved my new k-5II w/18-135mm lens yesterday late afternoon. great camera love it. Do not care much for the included strap but i never intended to use it anyway. did not really need the 18-135 lens but what the heck the price was good so ill give it a try.

will not relevent to my problem i did try one of my old manual focus primes on the k-5 and with the large viewfinder manually focusing was super easy, much better than my kx wich i have found manually focusing to be hard for me.

talked to a pentax service rep, he said the prism was out of alighnment and that some times these things happen, ( nice young man ) and the response from my email to pentax was super quick. anyway I will have my replacement k-5 soon.

Thanks for all you help it is appreciated , i will return this k-5 tommorow and have them send me a new one. as one forum member said shit happens, well i got a bad one, but i am sure the next one will be fine. its fortunate we have so many knowledgeable people out there.

I will return this k-5 tommorow and get my money back it's unfortunate that pentax quality control is so poor. A brand new camera should work right out of the box. this has really pissed me off.

I checked the diopter Iwear glases so i have to use it i am sure it is correct.

a brand new camera should not need adjustments. this is a engineering and quality control issue i expect better from pentax.

Ialso tried the afs mode center focus mode i am familiar with center focus as my sigma 28-200mm lens will really only focus well and fast on that mode on my kx

and i did set my k-5 back to the defaults just in case i messed somthing up wich somtimes happens .

I was wrong your right the live view focus is perfect the ovf focus is way out of focus what gives and how can i fix it

This is very upsetting for me my kx works great, but i have always wanted the k-5 I finally got one and it appears to be no good.

using the live view to focus the pics are great when focusing thru the ovf the focus is way off
