I downloaded the tools you've mentioned. Can you tell me I'm supposed to copy which tool from makernotes to EXIF for Lightroom to pickup lens info during import?
Thanks.

Thanks.
Thanks a lot. I've spent lot of time on lonely speck, amazing resource. I do want to get a wider lens for such shots.

My first attempt at astro photography. Though the conditions were not ideal because of lot of light pollution from around the area, it was an amazing learning experience.

Thank you for taking time to comment.
I tried to crop the rock out but something felt missing in that version, so I kept the rock.
Thanks for taking time to comment.

Thanks.
Thanks. The water was crystal clear. That helped a lot.
Thanks.
Thanks. Closest towns are Mt Shasta and Redding. The nearest site till you can drive is this - Shasta-Trinity National Forest - Fowlers Camp Campground. The middle falls I posted here is about 0.7 mile hike from here. Middle falls is part of a set of 3 falls.
Thanks a lot.

Visited the Mt Shasta region this last weekend and got a chance to try a long exposure of McCloud Middle Falls.
I didn’t find any spot for setting up the tripod, so the camera was placed on a rock for stability. Plus turned out that I was carrying wrong ND filter, so I had to hand-held it in front of the lens. This is the only picture that turned out worth sharing.

Hey DJ,
You should share your photos/story on reddit photography forum. Photography It's a very big community (more than 200k subscribers). The top post right now is a similar story to yours, just that it didn't work for him :). So I thought it would be cool if you posted your story too.

Looks like I'll have to rely on my 18-135 for those kind of shots. Now I realize how good it controls the flare when sun is directly in the frame.
It worked out pretty well here, but I don't like it in my landscape shots.

I got the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 for my K-5 IIs a month back. I think my copy of the lens is excellent, great sharpness even wide open, great color/contrast and bokeh.
Only flaw with this lens is poor flare control. I love shooting the sun in the frame, some of my best photos till date have sun in the frame. This lens is just not meant to be used for that kind of shots.
Will putting a UV filter or polarized filter in front help with flare issue?

The new kit lens looks awesome. DC motor in that small little package, good job Pentax.

I think I need to talk to Pentax and see if I need to send it back. But I need my camera for upcoming 4-5 weeks, so I can't afford to not have it. May be after that.
Thanks every one for comments.

All 3 are too expensive for me to be able to afford. Being a hobbyist photographer, I can only dream of such gear.
But I'm so happy today because our ecosystem is growing. Better late than never.

I think this is the issue with my K-5 IIs. After your comment, I'm now noticing that it's indeed overexposing only under certain conditions.
Does the program line setting have any effect on exposure?

I think you left some brush on the image, may be unintentional. I've marked the area with red line. |

I'm in center weighted metering 99% of the time.
I know. I'll try to get some example shots this weekend that I can post here.

Totally agree. I don't think this lens is worth $499, but $285 is a good deal for someone on budget.
