Thanks for the comments everyone! Looks like the DA35/f2.4 is the way to go, I might get a manual 50mm lens as well then.

Hey so I'm still relatively new to SLR cameras but want to extend myself passed the kit lenses and get a prime lens. It has to be autofocus as often I dont have time to fiddle around with manual focus (not to mention friends often shoot with my camera). I've been looking into getting a F or FA 50mm f/1.7 but these are hard to find, but usually go for under the $200 from what I've seen. Just considering the alternatives, so what else should I consider getting?
Note: Will be used for portraits, lower light situations (ie late in the day, sunsets and inside) as well as for the occasional recorded video in such situations. Oh yeah and will be using with the pentax K-x.

I'm looking to buy a lens for low light situations, the kit lens just isnt doing it for me. Will probably be shooting inside and at near dark situations. I dont really know a lot about what lenses to choose but would like to try out a manual lens. What are your recommendations for a low light lens <$70 (and possibly where I should buy too)? Help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Yeah I believe it is dust now, when I flipped the mirror up I could actually see that big piece of dust. Buying a blower off ebay to see if I can get rid of it.

I bought a pentax k-x about 2 months ago, and its all been fine until about a week or two ago. All my images are coming with a black mark near the top left hand corner and about 4 smaller black marks on the left hand side. I have used the incamera dust removal and pixel mapping options to try and fix it but do not know what is causing the black dot. I have tried a different lens so its not that, what is it? Below is a link to an image of the black dots on the photos. Help will be greatly appreciated, thanks. http://i56.tinypic.com/334howp.jpg |

Hello from adelaide Australia! I just recently bought my first DSLR, a pentax k-x and have been enjoying learning to use it for the last couple of months. I've been lurking around here before but just decided to register.
