Kudo's to Olympus for rating their cameras' weatherproofing, but you can't really blame manufacturers for not rating a sophisticated camera. There are just too many points of possible ingress. I counted seven doors on my K1, and then there are the plethora of buttons and rotary controls. All the doors have to be seated perfectly, and even then dirt can get caught on the seals. Also deterioration of the rubber over the years.

To ensure longevity of a camera like a Spotmatic, a good service now and then is in order. Just like any other equipment with lots of moving mechanical parts, cleaning out dust and fresh lubrication will keep it in best working condition.

Been a satisfied user of PSP for many years, but I'm not into hefty post production like Adobe users often seem to be.
PS othar: PSP does have an alignment function in its HDR section; don't know if it would be of any use to you for your needs.

I'd replace the kit lens with either the 16-85 or a 17-70. Same kind of range but more versatile and higher quality than the kit. And don't underestimate the value of the few more millimeters at the wide end. I've bought a Sigma 17-70 many years ago, and am still using it because of it's versatility. And as others have said, a wonderful walkaround lens. So much so, that it is often the only lens I take with me overseas.

I've found good discipline is the answer. I ALWAYS put back a card in a camera IMMEDIATELY after downloading files from it with my card reader.
