Poll: How many days before you got the replacement camera

Got my replacement yesterday: old serial number 3874xxx, new serial number 4073xxx. It took five weeks. I think I might have been unlucky because this has probably been the peak period for returns and bodies were in short supply. At least my supplier (Warehouse Express in the UK) did their best to keep me informed. Not knowing what's going on can be the most frustrating part of the whole process.

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting.

Chris

Hello, Ash. Thanks for the welcome. I see you're from Toowoomba: you weren't caught up in those devastating floods, were you? It looked to be apocalyptic.

All the best,

Chris

Every time I log onto the forum I'm told to introduce myself, so I'd better get on with it. I live in the UK (near Oxford) and way back when my first slr was a Pentax ME Super. They say you always remember your first, and I certainly have fond memories of that camera, a lovely little picture-taker. I went to a photography class, which provided an excellent grounding, and even then most people in the class were sporting Nikons and Canons, plus a few Minoltas, with the Pentax being regarded as slightly eccentric. That's something I always liked about Pentax - they never seemed to follow the herd (if two or three camera companies can be called a herd).

I later went down the rangefinder route, and I still use and treasure my Leica M7. But there's no way that I can afford a digital Leica, and I've also had to accept that there are some aspects of photography that a rangefinder isn't cut out for. I began to investigate what is current in the slr world and found myself drawn to the Pentax K-5. I now own one, but I don't have it in my possession because it is back with Pentax for the sensor fix. Not, however, before I took it on holiday to South Africa, where I was thrilled with the results. I can't wait to get it back. With the K-5, the Leica, and a Bronica ETRSi (picked up for peanuts on eBay) I reckon I'm pretty well covered.

A not unfamiliar tale, probably. I am looking forward to learning about the Pentax system from forum members. So far it seems to be a remarkably civil forum compared to some that I've come across. So, greetings everyone.

Chris
