Pentax service and repair

I had a problem while in Thailand - I had damaged my K10 and looked through the Pentax site to find the service centre in Bangkok. After finding it, i contacted them and was told to come in with the camera. On arriving i was taken upstairs to where the service techs were working on cameras - i handed my camera to the tech and he showed it to his collegues. they commented on the camera saying "i am sorry sir this camera is not available in Thailand - i was shocked and could not belive it. i questioned them again and he reaffirmed his prior comments - so i left and continued my holidays with a broken camera. Three days later i was at Pantip plaza in bangkok and no less than three stores had the K10 - i was really annoyed. I have since had my camera fixed but am writing in the hope that no other Pentax K10 customers will have the same problem in the future. If you damage your camera in Thailand beware the techs dont know that the K10 is available there.

Great to hear about your service. Here in Australia we have to deal with C.R. Kennedy and they are the worst for customer service. They are non responsive and very polite (yes they very politely stuff you around).

I dont buy any of my Photography gear in Australia - its far too expensive buy it from B&H or Cameta Camera. and dont be put off buy all that rubbish about you wont have a warranty because its a USA purchase - both these companies will honor your warranty and i have eveb had a problem where Cameta Camera paid for the return postage.

I dont like giving business to the gready wholesalers and reatailers in Australia...bad bad bad people who abuse their customers.

I agree with you C.R.Kennedy in Melbourne Australia are an absolute discrace and do Pentax Corporation a huge injustice as they provide terrible service, fail to call you back, dont repond to email enquiries and took over a month to fix my flash and even then didnt fix it and after hearing my complaint about it taking over a month and me not willing to accept lies about the parts being in transit; informed that they would replace the flash with a brand new one. They then removed the serial number off my orginal flash and stuck it on to the new flash, In the process scratched the case of the new flash - they are a very poorly run organisation and i wish more people would complain so that Pentax get adequately represented in Australia.

Now i have a problem with my camera and its a nightmare trying to get in contact with their service centre, you know the drill "all out opertors are busy, please leave a message" - i hte not getting service !!!
