I have no experience in K5. But for the shadow areas you can select one of the images and manual mask. As stated if you capture the DR of the scene you wont have a problem.

smooth the skin on the 2nd pic, it already good though. on the 1st pic if your are after a high key treatment, maybe i'd crop the trees as it takes away the focus on the model.

I think the lighting is ok. Base on the scene maybe a cinematic PP by adding contrast, a proper bleach bypass treatment may work as well, but I'm leaning more on cinematic, contrasty look.... Maybe remove the deadbody.
