Short version : after a year using 3rd party batteries that were not that cheap, they all last 1/3 of the original. So i will end up spending twice the price of a single batterie, on a two year span, to get a single batterie. Should have gotten the original one from the start

As photography is now a real work for me, i had to add :
- Sigma 35/1.4 (if Pentax did make one, i'd would have bought a Pentax one. And no, the 31 is no remplacement).
- Pentax FA*85/1.4. (And no, the DFA*85 wasn't available at the time, and is way too heavy at 1.2kg compared to the 550gr of the FA*).
When you have to climb 35m on a static rope to take a shot, then yes, weight become a crucial mater.

On the conclusion of this one, DPR is not negative really. It's quite promising in fact. let's see what they will say when they really test the camera.

I've seen some reviews, and it's pretty stunning indeed ! It ain't cheap but i can really find value in the offer (because i really would use some of the features to help earn more money).

The button layout in itself is different and the AF layout also seem different. That is enough to make a K1iii
Jokes aside, in the sensor departement, Sony seems to focus a lot on the read-out of sensor lately. Bigger buffer and faster clearance would be a pleasant surprise.
Better AF with the joystick alone would be enough for me to get a K1iii.

A DGB6 Grip for the K1. When shooting from a static rope, i really miss the extra grip for vertical !

The good thing is that the camera doesn't allow to take more pictures, but doesn't lock either. You can dive in menu, change settings and so on. ---------- Post added 31st Jul 2020 at 04:02 PM ----------
that's how it's supposed to work. My K1 certainly doesn't follow this. It takes more time to clear a buffer when dual cards with RAW files are in work.

The main probleme of the 2 cards writting is that the buffer clearance is slower than when using a 1 card recording. This is really what prevent the 2 cards writting for me when dealing with high speed sequence, where buffer clearance is paramount.

I will be sorry, that's for sure ! But truth is i never use them anymore.
The 75-150 was a very good lens especially on the K5, but i don't reconnect with it since the K1.
The K28/3.5 does produce absolutely beautiful colors and is really quite sharp (even against the DFA !), it's really an amazing lens, for sure.
Still, i do prefer to work with the DFA 24-70 or the DA*55 or the FA*85, than those 2 manual lenses. Because yes, MF is part of the issue, truth be told.

Customers are more suceptible to pay for goods wich price remain constant over time. Otherwise, we all wait for price to lower before buying, and even then we think "it's old, something new might come up" and we end up never buying it new.

Agreed ! I'm pretty confident the lens will be really good. So far the level of the DFA lenses are way higher than what Pentax did before Ricoh.

Make sure you "push" it enough into the flash hotshoe. Otherwise it's making false contact and doesn't work.

If the DA 55-300PLM was a DFA I would say a lot of people would have buy it.
I think the DFA 70-300 on the road map will sell like hot cake.
I have a 2.8 trio zoom lens, but a light, high quality zoom, would definitely be a perfect fit for me for casual moment when I don't need the triumvirate.

Today "eye-focusing" refers to focusing on the eye of the subject you want to photograph. Completely different concept.

got the Pentax instead ? ---------- Post added 13th Dec 2019 at 09:38 PM ---------- Latest acquisition is the DFA 24-70.
The latest de-acquisition is going to be the DA35/2.4, Panagor 28mm f2 (great lens, prety much underated IMO), and the fungy vivitar 24mm f2 (a bit overrated i think).

DFA 24-70 f2.8
Huge beast, but very promizing. All the good things said are true. The weight too unfortunately  . Sometime, you just have no choice really but to use the best tool for the job
Now the DA 35/2.4, the Panagor 28mm f2, and the vivtar 24mm f2 will have to go ! :)

Full a eBay request with pictures of the lenses with the fungus. If correctly described, eBay will refund you and the seller has to pay for the shipping back. Usually the seller just let you keep the stuff.

the rendering of the big red ... thing picture pretty much indicates that the lens as assembly issue : the lens should'nt be soft like that at all.
Just send it back, get another one from a reputable dealer, like B&H or Adorama.

If you like the way the FA31 (or the DA*55) do render on FF, the FA*85 is really in the same vein. Same style, same kind of rendering.
It's very nice, but a bit heavy. Balance well on the K1. I would'nt spend like 1k$ on it though.
