I bought a cheap Tamron mirror last year as a late Christmas gift to myself. Turns out I got a new looking 55B for $75 Canadian, and it really is nearly new. It's not the easiest lens to use, but digital with high ISO and decent light makes it a lot easier to hand hold. It's better than I thought it was going to be, when I manage to get the focus right at least. These were taken handheld with my K3.
I like it for sunset shots too, you can get some interesting details in the sky with the reach. These ones were taken with my K3 from a tripod.
It works good for closer photos too.
It's not the sharpest lens in the world, or the easiest to use, but it's far from terrible.

Here's a couple more shots from my Tamron 500mm and K3. The first one is a bit of a crop.
And some Christmas lights with the same lens on my K1, 20 second exposure.

My parents on the 1973 Norton that my dad bought new in London, then travelled around Europe on and met my mom. 49 years almost to the day after they first met. My brother and I pulled the bike out of the shop and got it running, then we took turns roaring up and down the road on the original tires.

I entered this one in a local fall fair photo exhibit this year, and won first place with it.
I actually entered 3 photos in different categories, and won first with all of them. That was kind of cool.

F35-105 on K1.
F24-50 on K1
F70-210 on K1
And it doesn't hurt that they look right at home on the K1 either.

These were taken in northern BC, Canada. In the winter, sunrise isn't until nearly 10 am, and sunset is not long after 4 pm. Being as flat as it is, it means lots of amazing sunrises, and I worked outside most of the time, so got to see lots of them. Here's a couple of my favourites. Hopefully it's ok that I'm posting two here.

We've had an incredibly hot and dry spell here lately, this week we saw a couple days of 47°C (116°f) in the shade. Last night brought lightning and a sprinkle of rain, less than 1/4" though, and that caused fires all over the place. We live out of town with forest on two sides of our property, so I went up the mountain behind my house to sort of keep an eye on things, as well as see if I could get a few pictures of the lightning. Turns out lightning combined with smoke from nearby forest fires and clouds looks really cool though.

Outdoor photography isn't always predictable. I've set out with an idea in my mind for what type of picture I want to try for, and come home with something totally different as well. Here's a couple from early this year. I had gone out hoping to get an early morning panorama of the fog that quite often forms over the river on colder mornings. It was however completly socked in, but I ended up with these.
The sky background was very plain and boring, and there was very little colour in the photos anyway.

I don't think I've shared these here, from end of October. It wasn't bad weather yet for the first one, but once that storm came over the mountains, it was a quick transformation.
And here's a couple panoramas from the same day. The first one was 4 shots with my K1 and SMC F 35-105 @ 70mm and f14, handheld.
This one was taken with my K1 and Tamron 500 mm mirror lens on a tripod. I had some odd colour issues because of how quickly the light was changing, so it's black and white.

Yes, she grew up in Norway, and my dad is from Canada. My mom's brother had been working in Canada, and became friends with my dad, so he figured he'd pop over from England for a visit. They married several years later and she moved to Canada. When my dad showed up in my mom's parents yard, he was so dirty from riding that nobody could see who he was. My grandma thought her oldest son had bought a motorcycle, and was angry and yelling at him until he took his helmet off. My dad at that point didn't speak any Norwegian, so he didn't know what was going on.

Thank you. Very nice shots in your gallery too. I think my favourite is the night time shot of the trains passing on the siding. With how easy it is to stitch images in software these days, I rarely reach for a wider angle anymore. Some of my favourite shots are panoramas I took with my K3 and a 50mm. A wide angle lens seems to make distant mountains look much smaller, but this combo works well, especially when making big prints. I've even done panoramas with 400 and 500mm telephoto lenses to get detail on a distant subject, and also just to see if I could do it.

I feel the same about my 35-105, it's almost always on my K1. My only complaint after a couple years with it is the relatively long close focus. he only more modern full frame lens I have is a 105mm macro that I bought over 15 years ago. I kind of want to try a 28-105 for the weather sealing and slightly wider angle of view, but the 35-105 really hasn't disappointed me. Taken at 105mm this summer, f8.

If it helps any, I bought my F35-105 and F70-210 from a local camera shop a couple years ago in nearly new condition for just under $200 for the pair.

Just a backlit maple leaf on my lawn on a frosty morning. Taken with my K1 and screw mount SMC 50 f1.4 and a short macro extension. Live view and the fold out screen work so well for shots like this.

I've posted this shot before, but I don't think it was in one of the challenges. It was taken a couple years ago in my backyard during a snowstorm. I really liked the way the reddish brown leaves and the birdhouse add just a bit of colour to the scene. Taken with my K3 and screw mount SMC 50 1.4 with a relatively slow shutter speed to show the falling snow around the aspen. I'm tempted to have it made into a jug saw puzzle for my mom, but that would be a bit mean.

My daughter's choir class sang the national anthem at a local hockey game last night. I called the hockey team number to ask if I'd be able to bring my camera in the arena, and was told I'd need a media pass, but that could be easily arranged. I figured maybe a few shots through the glass, but one thing lead to another, and I got to go out on the ice with them. I took these with my F35-105 on my K1. A little glowy around the edges of the frame in the wide shot, but not bad. I was close enough I probably could have used my F24-50 which has a short hood on it, but didn't have much time to experiment.

I'm going to give the win to Yaki on this one. Sharp focus on the headlight with the rest fading into the distance, Not necessarily a really special car, but representative of what most people actually could get by with for daily transportation, not the huge behemoth SUVs carrying a single person I see so often here in Canada. It doesn't hurt that I also drive a focus, but it isn't as nice as that one. I noticed your license plate frame says Bulgaria, the lathe I posted the photo of last week is also from there. The brand is Sofia, and my daughter thought that was pretty cool, because her name is Sophia.
There's nothing wrong with the other two entries, but Yaki's Focus seems representative of people's daily transportation needs.

It definitely gets used. I've got it mostly full of motorcycles and parts now, after my wife got some projects for me. A parts bike for an old Suzuki street bike that looks to be complete enough I can maybe make a whole extra bike from it, and a bunch of dirtbike parts she brought home from work, along with a couple bikes that they were going to toss out after the owners didn't come back to pay their bills and pick up the bikes. I won't post photos of the current mess of parts scattered all over the floor to be sorted, but here's one of the bikes she got for free, just needed a few days of work on my part to get it back together and running. Now that I've got it running pretty good and it seems to be a keeper, there will be more parts showing up for it. At least I don't have quite as many bikes as I do cameras.
The problem always seems to be that there's time to kind of finish most projects, but never time to put everything back in its place and do a proper cleanup after. Then of course that makes every job after that take longer. But if course if I have a big enough mess, that means my wife and kids aren't tempted to go in there to borrow tools that I might find later in the house or the yard somewhere. So I guess there's a plus side to the mess.

Here's one of the most important technologies that made the industrial revolution possible. It is considered by many to be the mother of all machine tools, and what made other advancements in machining possible. Mine isn't quite that old, made in 1978, but the principle is the same.
I should have put some cutting oil on the steel and spun it faster to get more smoke, but it was already tough to get a nice looking curled chip coming off it.

A couple years ago I was asked if I wanted to be the official photographer for a huge local car show. Cars start showing up and staging at 4am, so I bought an F50 1.7. I guess they liked my photos, because they asked me to come back this year and again for next year too. Here's a few shots from this year with the 50. Autofocus with my K1 works pretty good, even in low light. The first shot was taken at f3.5, the others wide open or close to it. ISO 800 or 1600, and handheld for all of them.
