Beacon Hill park in Victoria. They have since turned completely red and wilted, but I managed to capture it mid-change (about a 2 day window) where its still partially yellow and not fully open.

Thanks guys.
The ISO was at 3200 since it was the lowest I could get it while keeping a reasonable shutter speed. It was a lot darker than the lighting suggests.
Focal length was about 250mm if I remember correctly. The 55-300 isn't ideal for macro photography but you can make it work.

Hey all;
So my sister pushed (a fairly easy sale based on the price of the K-5) me into selling her my K-x and kit lens, which leaves me with a gap in my lens arsenal.
I currently own a DA 10-17 and DA 55-300, both lenses I love and used maybe 30% and 50% of the time respectively. I never used the 18-55 much as I was never super satisfied with the results compared to the others. I do want a wide angle zoom for architecture photography though. What are your recommendations?
Ideally I would like some versatility as I find I'm either shooting in the fisheye range (very specific stuff) or in the 35-70mm range and don't want to change lenses all the time. DA 18-135; DA 17-70; Sigma 17-70 or others? I would like to keep both the K-5 and new lens under $2k if possible.
Thanks guys!

I'm in the market for a fisheye for some sports shots and others. The Samyang is a lot cheaper, but I'm not super experienced with a DSLR or camera settings in general.
Would I be better served by saving some money with the Samyang or getting the Pentax 10-17mm?

I agree, I didn't have a tripod so I was limited to where I could take it. I think i'll crop out the left hand side.

Thanks guys. I ended up getting the Kx with 18-55 and 55-300 for $680 new. With the money saved over the Kr I bought myself a camera bag that fits the body and two lenses, and extra set of rechargable Eneloops (already had a set from my P&S) and a 16GB glass 6 Sandisk card. Plus had a bit leftover.
Thanks again, now time to learn the tricks of the trade.

Hmm Henry's in Canada has the Kr with DA L 18-55mm and 55-300mm for $829. Seems like a good deal to me so I'll probably pick this up.

Alright. I think the autofocus points are a big deal. Ill get a 18-200mm lenses in place of the kit or something then see what old Pentax lenses my dad and uncle have. They have a bunch of old Pentax lenses from when they shot film. So maybe even a wide angle and macro? Probably manual focus.

Yes I realize this has been beaten to death, but I can`t find an answer to the questions I have. So:
I`m just getting into DSLR and have decided on Pentax. I absolutely love how the camera sits in my hands and the menu is by far the best on any other dslr I have used. I want to take pictures of architecture, landscapes, night shots, and snowboarding and action spots shots.
I can get the Kx with kit 18-55mm for $500 CDN or the Kr with the kit 18-55mm for $680. Would it be worth it for me to spend the extra on the Kr? Or get the Kx and the DA 35mm prime? for about the same?
I didn't like the lack of autofocus points on the Kx and I've heard the Kr has a greatly improved shake reductions which might help with macro shots?
Anyways, help would be greatly appreciated.
