Well, dang. That is a nice lens. I already shoot old manual lenses and have a sturdy tripod that holds my telescope.
Would not be good for bike rides unless I put a rack on the bike. Thanks for sharing!

I am currently shooting with a Pentax K-5 and really enjoy it.
It has a couple of bad pixels when I shoot night scenes. I can fix them
in Photoshop. No big deal. I would like to get a very good bird lens in the future, but
I need to research that more.
I do like the idea of AstroTracer in the K-70. I love taking night sky shots but
do not have a tracking tripod for longer exposures. I think I could do some creative shots with that feature.
The added mega pixels would be a big jump over my current set up as well higher ISO range.
Thanks for the entry spot and good luck to all!

I went ahead a purchased a SMC 80-200mm F4.5 zoom. I have been much happier with the results.

Here is a shot with it.

And this one is same lens with a Sears 2x converter.

that first one is a bit soft, but would be worth doing till you get it just right. I'm gonna have to save up for one of those lenses....nice!

these are bold and may be breaking some rules, but they kind of work.
weird...I was using a globe in a self portrait last night. sometimes you have to use yourself if you want to do experimental works.
keep going with these!

Cool bird. Would love to have one like that to practice shooting!
Good advice from others. Try some in natural light when you can!

Thanks for the info. I thought it should be sharper also as compared to others I've seen. Back to the drawing board.

Your photo of the dummy with cat blows my lens to pieces! That is one sharp lens.

Trying to get the focus as crisp as possible. Never liked the DA 18-55 lens that came with it. Way too soft for most stuff. Can't afford a nice auto-zoom for now.

I am also trying to learn the finer points of manual assist focus.

How would you rate the quality of this lens? Sears 135mm f2.8

I like the way it leans on the box, but it seems it (whole composition) should be moved a tiny bit to the right. The photo seems unbalanced as is.
Overall, good photo and presentation, but I am not an expert.
